So I am getting new heads tomorrow on a trade from a guy. The are pro topline s rt or something. They have 167cc runners and are 1.94/76 . Curious if these would be an upgrade to my 882 smogers. These are sitting on my 327. Any info or advice would be appreciated.

Never heard of a Pro head with that small of an intake runner. Just 180cc or 200+.....

If it has vortec style chambers it will be an upgrade.

When the heads are off, measure the bore and stroke, make sure it's a 327.

You mean 1.94" intake and 1.5" exhaust valves?

Ahh that's usually listed as:

Intake Runner CC/Chamber Size

Intake Valve/Exhaust Valve

IE 200cc/64cc 2.02/1.60

If it's 67 cc it's also been worked over and guessed at or measured for an actual 67.

It's the first head on this page.

ProTopline Marine Torker

EDIT: Same part number on these: Looks like they are old old old but maybe Vortec based chambers?

Another question I have is while heads are off, what other areas should be addressed. I have not done a head swap in over 10 years and when I did the last one I just bought a top end gasket kit from a machine shop. Is that the way to go?

So I finally am getting ready to bring heads in to ha e them cleaned. I fin looked at them closer. They have double springs and trw guide plates. So I am hoping they have decent valves. Looks like somebody at least put a couple bucks into them.

Pro heads come with that.

With guide plates you need hardened pushrods and non-self aligning rockers.
