I think I've found the system I want to put on the 89. I've been searching for either the Borla system, or a GMMG chambered system. Hawks carries both, Borla being the more expensive, but prices for both are outrageous, and shipping is not included (about $130 or so to our coast).
I read somewhere once that Mad Hammer was the maker of the GMMG system on the 93-02 Camaro/Firebird cars, and by all appearances, they look identical. I went to their site and did some looking around - their system, with tips and clamps, goes for $675, S/H included.
For comparison, here are the links to both vendors' systems with prices.

| Not specific to that brand, but in general if you are planning to have a catback welded in you can use a fourthgen system. The only differences I have found are the hangers and the flange to the cat. The routing seems the same. |

| I used a 4th gen 2.5" exhaust on my V6 car. The routing was identical from the cat back. |

those setups use a "muffler" that we oldtimers used to call a glass pack only without the out shell...
What are your intensions for car?
if u want to keep ur wife out of the car cause its way to loud-get one of those..good for performance however..........
I have heard and used many many mufflers etc... and for my 3rd gen I really like the Hooker Aerochamber...great sound-and good flow..

All honesty, what is the going rate for a scratch built setup by kitsap muffler? |
Kitsap Muffler did the one I have on there now, a Pro-Flow muffler which does OK. They also hacked up my Y-pipe because my sub-frame interfered with its routing and made a half-a$$ed tee. They also don't do mandrel bends.

No wife to worry about and my V6 is louder inside the car than the 383 - stock turn-down tips under the car instead of straight pipes out and past the bumper. |

I think you may have sold me, Mike. I listened to several sound clips of each, as well as Flowmaster and Magnaflow - probably didn't do any of them justice. I still like the GMMG and Aerochamber best, they both sound very similar but the Aerochamber is less raspy on deceleration. At half the price, Aerochamber wins out |

| The system on my 87 is the Aerochamber cat back without a cat. |
