Ive set these things 4 times now and they still keep coming loose. Even used lock-tite and they are rattling.

Back to normals I go. What a waist of 300+ bux.

Are they actually coming loose or is your valve train just noisey? or worse yet going flat.

Coming loose. Some could be just that noisy.

I just read they MIGHT net me 3hp. Not worth the hassel.

If you have over 500 lift or fairly high pressure springs stock rockers wont take it. The rocker balls will gall and you'll even snap studs because of it.

I know you have lt1 cam.. but still whats the lift with 1.6s? and I dont know what springs you used.

If they have poly locks, you need to set the inner jam screw better.

I've NEVER had a poly lock back off.

Also, better check that it's not the head stud pulling up. I had that happen. Acts like a loose rocker. Tighten the rocker down and a few miles later it's loose again. Look, and the stud is higher than all the others.

Chevy, I'm only running 1.5 rockers. This exreamly similar setup had stock rockers for 2 years with no issues. It has a full manley valve setup.

Twilight, I did check the studs. I also used hi-temp locktight on them when putting in at 55lbs. (alumn heads)

Ahh okay screw in studs. That's different :O)

Poly lock rockers or pinch nuts? Pinch nuts do wear out and can get loose.

Maybe I scared you and your being too gentle? I think Paul described how to tighten them in the last thread.

I just flat didnt like this design in the first place. Ive never had luck with "double nutting" stuff Laughing

Ive held the nut with a wrench, and tightened the allen tell I swear it was twisting. Still not working.

Anyway I think I found some self locking nuts. which would you chose. This way I didnt waist some damn parts.

After you tighten the allen, you need to tighten the nut itself.. with the allen an additional little bit. People have used this style nut for eons.

One of those is to hold a stud girdle on, the other is for shaft mounted rockers.. neither will work.

I have a motor with self aligning.. I dont know what is making the racket. Tried 3 different sets of rockers, different pushrods, springs.. etc.. NOISE.. I hate it. I'll be taking it apart yet again soon.

If I do it your way, its going to change the adjustment of the rocker.

With my ARP perma-loc rocker nuts I just turned the main body with a wrench to set preload, then held wrench while turning in hex screw to 'lock' it. Haven't had any issues with them coming loose.

As far as turning the nut to lock, I think there may be confusion with setting lash. Some engines where you set the lash with a flat blade then hold it and tighten the nut to lock it.

It won't if you do it the proper way. set lash, back off just a hair, stug up allen, then turn both together agian to snug it up to where it was adjusted before. Done, tight, snug, it won't go anywhere.

LOL I gave you instructions in another post.

I have set these a zillion times and again the only issue is over tightening.

It really doesn't matter what you buy, if you don't follow the instructions. Now I read the polylock installation guide for the gold rockers and it says hold the nut and tighten the allen. That's not proper. Hasn't been for decades.

Re-read my post. Seriously. It's easy.

Go to zero lash. Tighten the nut to where you want it, then snug the allen.

Then hold the allen, back off the nut 1/8-1/4 (you'll get a feel for it.) And tighten them BOTH to your set lash point.

I'm with stupid

I think I tried to say the exact same thing. That is how you are supposed to set poly locks. Just about any good performance rocker is going to have poly's.
