So my comp rockers didnt come with instructions......

Do I need to use lock-tite on the bolts. Or are these set-screws suppose to be enough to hold it?

The poly-locks should be all you need.

No thread locker needed, just make sure you tighten the crap out of the poly lock. I've had a couple come loose before. It was amlost ugly the 2nd time.

But don't tighten them too tight.. LOL I've also seen the tops pop off the lock just below the set screw!

I usually turn the lock til just a hair before the setting I want, tighten the screw, then turn the whole works just a hair tighter. But be careful.

Like Brandon said, DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. All you need is snug.

I've NEVER had one come off, but I have had some break off from overtightening when I first got them.

It's easier and more forgiving with a hydro cam. Setting lash on a solid is a little tricky but you get the hang of it quick.

Set the adjustment with the hex nut, then snug the allen set screw. Then, back the hex off allowing the allen to tighten, then tighten them TOGETHER snug.

Once you get the hang of it, they will both snug up right at the adjustment you were going for.

Twice I had one loosen up enough for the rocker to turn sideways. The 2nd time the pushrod caught the edge of the turned rocker arm. When I pulled the valve cover one of the valve stem keepers had popped out the seat. I replaced the pushrods, cleaned up the rocker arm cup with emory cloth and popped the keeper back in. This was with Crower stainless steel rockers, same as the Pro Magnums.

I say tighten the shizzle out of the poly locks. If the rocker breaks then it was going to break anyway.

It's not the rocker that breaks. It's the Polylock itself. I've actually caught a few on their way (because solid lifter - adjusting regularly) had hairline cracks in the middle of the poly lock at the the top of the rocker stud. And had a few break completely. Lucky that I didn't lose my lash cap down the motor, and that I had a lifter valley oil baffle which doubles in keeping the lifters in their bore when valve train failure happens. Roller's have that built in with the dog bones.

I can't remember now if I broke mine or if I just remember Paul's, but its a well known fact on the web as well. Many people were breaking the poly locks from overtightening. Once they break the rocker comes loose and you loose everything same as if it just backed off.

I remember breaking rocker studs.. maybe I broke some poly's as well.. Shrug

Anyway, point is tighten them up the right way and you won't have trouble.
