so me being the dummy i was at the time, thought one of my lifters was ticking so i tightened my rocker arms and i have WBo2 sensor and ever since i tightened them it has started to run richer, and i also found out that with roller motors your not supposed to adjust them once they already have been (when it was built). should i attempt to re adjust them (losen them) back to where it was or just take it in and have someone do it
at idle it was always right at 14.7:1 now its anywhere from 13.9:1 to 14.3:1
still need to tune my chip to run at 12.8:1 at WOT, thats my goal this year _________________

You should re-adjust your rockers after the first few heat cycles really. Hydraulic lifters take up alot of slack if adjusted properly however.
Being a roller cam has nothing to do with how or when to adjust. It's the lifter design (solid vs hydraulic)
You probably had an exhaust leak.
You should re-set all valves to 1/4 turn past zero lash at base circle.
All that said, it'd be running a like a bag of a$$ if you really messed up the lash. Adjust above.
What are your fuel trims? Sounds more like an O2 issue. Because you have WB you can see what it's really doing, and the computer is aiming for 14.7:1 based on the narrow band. If it's not hitting it, you have other issues or your o2 is shot. Properly adjust your valves ICEO method, and see what happens. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Did tightening them eliminate the ticking? If not I agree that it was probably an exhaust leak. I went through the same thing on my 305. _________________ 1988 GTA, 5.3/T56 in the works. |

it was an exhaust leak
got that fixed awhile ago,
im gonna re adjust them and see what happens and go from there but before i do should i do it where i crank it by hand and do each cylinder or do it while its running? ive heard people doing both but i have also heard doing it while running isnt the best _________________

You will find people who prefer either way more than the other, but with hydraulic lifters it really can be done accurately either way. The big downside to adjusting valves with the motor running is the mess. You'll be dumping oil down the sides of your motor unless you have a set of valve covers cut out to allow you to adjust the rockers with them installed. The sides of these modified covers allow the oil to drain back down in the head like in normal operation. _________________ 1988 GTA, 5.3/T56 in the works. |
