well directly next door to my shop, is Alpina auto body.. and they have been talking about stripping and painting my 1LE car for a while now, just nothing real serious. well they blew up the motor in their E36 M3, so i am trading them a new ported M3 cylinder head, for a strip down and paint on my car. they are painting it all in pieces, and re assembling it with all new weather stripping, seals, windsheild, etc.. making it like new! also they are going to fill all of the holes that the cops drilled all over it when it served as a high speed persuit car. then i bought a new front bumper cover, fender, grill, turn signals, and the Z28 blister hood and spoiler for it. they are thinking it'll be a couple weeks in bodywork and paint, so i'm assuming about a month lol heres some pics of it from today in it's first day of demo!!

it'll get the windows tinted while it's at the body shop, and all of the new emblems and service stickers before i get it back.

my only real big plans for it is gonna be a new set of some kind of forged wheels for it, and a ground controll setup. other than that the interior is cherry, and it runs and drives awesome. i am excited!!! Very Happy

Going with white again or a color change? Gonna be looking pretty good when it comes out!

Being its a true b4c, I would have kept it orginal as possible. But to each their own, its your car.

Cant wait to see it finished.

I'm not changing anything that can't easily be changed back. I'm going to put all of the Z28 options on the exterior. I think that the flat hood and the RS grills are absolutely hideous and borderline ruin these cars. Plus I already had the wing for it. So I might aswell. I'm looking at doing something white in the wheel department. Like a polished 5 spoke 3 piece wheel, with a white center.

I vaguely remember a guy back in the glory days of TGO (01? 02?) that swapped a ZF6 into his blue camaro. I remember it being a pretty big pain in the ass. However, that was long before I knew anything about fabrication. Laughing

Didn't GM run those transmissions in prototype cars?

no it won't be a bracket car anymore lol not like its been down the track for the last 2 years anyways.

yeah theres been various people putting them in these cars. its easier to go LT1 T56, but i think a ZF6 would just be cool. i'm going to wait til it's all back assembled and ready to go after paint before i worry about that tho.

Don't remember. Although I did find the guy that did it. ZBRA on TGO.

His signature says he sold the 91z.

The two '92 RS prototype cars had ZF 6 speeds as well as L98s with siamesed runners, headers, and black cross laced wheels. I saw one at a PNWCC show about 6 or 7 years ago.

dude that thing is going to look so sweet when its done. But PLEASE do it right and black out the headlight buckets. too many white cars are ruined by not blacking out the headlight buckets.

Paint the buckets black, then paint the rest of the car black. Problem solved. Wink

But I can totally understand the personal preference, I'm the guy who likes flat hoods and shaved spoilers.

Yeah I definitally plan on painting the buckets black. aswell as the black Z28 grill with a red bowtie, and blacked out windows. The wheels will have a dash of black too.

But on more of a sidenote.... The Vasily and Leo came down from the body shop the other day.

and....

They found the build sheet for the car!!!!!
