I need one cheap. I thought I could get away withouut one with fan constanly running, but traffic proved me wrong. Drove from renton to blvd park in seattle in morning no problems. Drove home with fan on, heat cranked in traffic and creeped north of 220, don't know how much air damn will help but can't hurt

Air dam doesn't do anything for traffic.

It only works at speed.

Best check that your fan is really on, and put a 180 t-stat in there.

I'm with stupid

It's just a thought, but my guess is that your problem lies with the engine timing. I think it's far too retarded at idle.

ya. i kindof figuered i have a problem beside air dam. i was thinking it could at least aid it when moving. i have a 160 degrees thormostat and my fan is wired to a toggle, i know both were working which is why i thought getting to 22o plus in thirty minutes driving was a little much.

Yeah you do need the air dam. Mentioned that months ago to ya.

Toggle switch is a bad idea for a fan. It's nice to have a toggle in addition to a sensor/switch to turn it on automatically.

You'll forgot to turn it on one time..... one time only, and blow the radiator.

Not just the rad, you'll blow the whole motor. Think about Al's car at dyno. That was two pulls without the electric fan. Just two pulls and the whole thing was toast.

He's already been told he needs to install and air damn and an automatic fan switch. This was mentioned several months ago, as you said.

If he doesn't act on the suggestions we give then there is not any real reason to continue giving them, IMHO.

I think I have an extra one in the shed. $20 and I'll bring it the next time I'm in Renton.

Next time let it idle with the fan running to cool it off. Hot coolant gets hotter when it stops.

Yep. Best move is to run the fan, let it idle, and crank on the heater.

If the fan won't cool it down, you can mist water into the radiator fins. This will cool it down to thermo temp. Then you can shut down.
