| I'm trying to figure out if stock z28 springs give a lower ride height than stock RS springs. Anyone? And what's the difference between variable spring rate and constant spring rate springs? |

I couldn't tell you anything about RS vs Z28 springs but linear (contstant) means that the spring is the same "rate" throughout compression. Example, 600 in/lb front spring is compressed an inch it's spring rate is still 600in/lbs. A progressive (variable) means as you compress the spring, the rate goes up. From what I've seen they have two different rates, the highest and lowest spring rates. Eg; Compress the first inch and it'd be 110in/lb. Compress the next inch and it's up to 175in/lb. Typically gives a smoother ride but not as good in the handling because they aren't quite as predictable in transitions (right-left-right). _________________

RS/SC/Berli springs are tall and skinny. Z28 and IROC are shorter and thicker.
My two cents: get Z28/IROC or WS6 and cut them. |

| Makes sense. But going over my dumb calculations, for an extra like $70 over going to O' Reily's and buying a set of Z springs I can just get a nice set of Eibach Sportlines. I saw on thirdgen.org that the Z springs are just stiffer and don't lower your stance. But that was only one person with no one else vaildating it. Just curious if any crewbies knew. Seems like sportlines are in the mix before show season. |
