Ok so a friend of mine wants me to install a hei dizzy and coil he got from summit for his 67 mustang. I was looking at it and got a question... he now has the cylinder style coil and there is 4 wires going to two little posts on the coil I'm assuming one is 12v, ground, tach, and electric choke, but the new coil only has a 2 pin plug. So where do those 4 wires go? And for the two pins on the new coil is that just 12v and a ground? _________________

| Is the coil in the cap? If so one pin is switched ignition, the other is tach, grounds through the base. The original coil has a 12v start wire coming from the starter solenoid and a supply wire which is resistorized. So you'll need to run a new 12v supply wire the other wire coming from the solenoid can be deleted. The wires on the negative side of the coil go to the distributor and the tach. So you should only have the tach wire after pulling the original distributor. Hook it to the tach wire marked on the cap. |
