Wonder no more.:

No fuel pressure getting built there.

I don't know if it was a defect in the rubber or what, but I doubt that Holley intended it as a 15K mile replacement part. If it was an SBC pump I could just buy a rebuild kit for it, but noooo... Rolling Eyes

...so we just bought a Carter. Razz

Also, in the interest of the insides of the tank and line not ending up everywhere, it's pre-filter time:

And installed...

And the regulator with post-filter:

Yes, there's more than 12 total inches of rubber fuel line in the system. Wink

You can probably thank your friendly gasahol. Expect more of this BS too as we go to 15%.

I've switched to buying EFI hose etc.. The old stuff just isnt holding up anymore.

Oh and RobbMC Rock on!

I'm thinking you're right about the gasahol thing Brandon.

I replaced all the fuel hose under the hood since it was hard as a rock, and all the diaphragms and gaskets in that pump were hard as well. These were all brand new parts that I personally installed 15K miles ago.

I'm also thinking that may be the cause of the corrosion in the fuel tank. It was burned out when we did everything else to the car, but I stuck a flashlight in there when doing all this and it's just a sea of rust. Rolling Eyes

They do make a drop in SS tank for these cars.

I made the mistake of replacing my stock fuel lines on the 87 since they were old. No other reason.. well the new replacements lasted about 1.5 years.. Then they were hard and cracking all over. So I went to stainless braid.. which I had a ton of trouble with and now I hear that its not immune to gasahol unless you buy the teflon lined stuff.

So, now I'm using the EFI rated rubber line. It feels alot nicer and its much harder to stretch onto the nipples.. We'll see how it performs.
