Aaron sorry to correct ya man... but the air is an add on. Most "univeral" cats come with an air tube. If you don't need it, you cap it off. Air helps the cold catalyzation process. No further. Wont clog any faster.
Clean motor AL. Glad you got it running acceptably and that starter worked out well for ya! _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

My understanding of older-school converters with the tube that it was needed to keep them from staying too cold and getting clogged.
However, I stand corrected, Paul.
Funny thing about all of mine, they all somehow fall off the car and end up at the scrapyard. |

I still have the stock cat (with y-pipe) sitting in the garage. Current one is a universal 3" "high flow" Walker cat from West Bay (now NAPA).
What's left to do?
Larger injectors, but first a higher volume fuel pump. The pump will go in the tank I picked up from Aaron which has a nice sealing surface on the filler neck for the cap. These 454 injectors will fit my TBI-220 throttle body, but they're $100 apiece.
http://www.fuelinjector.citymaker.com/catalog/item/5448589/5392046.htm
Using this table, I crossed the two part numbers to a TBI-220 application, my injectors are p/n 5235206, these are p/n 1784304.
http://www.fuelinjector.citymaker.com/Rochester_TBI.html
This piece is $130 plus $50 core and includes the same injectors, FPR, gasket - basically the top half of the TBI unit.

I have some worn out steel fuel lines that I'm thinking of converting to braided line, just have a shop cut the middle section out, keep the fittings and replace the steel tubing with braided hose. |

I'll have it up your way a week from tomorrow. I have a bowling night after work and won't be in the normal vanpool. I might be able to drop by and show it off to ya |

Not much left, Dan. Most went with the old motor, but I do have some of the exhaust and emissions stuff; log manifolds with air tubes, air pump, diverter valve & solenoids, catalytic converter and y-pipe.
Other stuff from this and previous projects; trans cross-member, front brake calipers (cast iron), and e-brake lever. |

Can I bring some out tomorrow sometime? I have a 9:00am alignment appointment at Firestone, after that I'm pretty much open all day. |

I finished up putting the console back together today and find that the spring for the ash tray lid has broken through the hole that it's anchored in. Looks like I'm in need of another 5-speed console cover (just saw Skyler is looking for one too).
Went to get the front end aligned this morning and find that a new driver side ball joint is in order. Somewhere, somehow, the cotter pin had come out and the castle nut had backed off a bit. While sitting in the driveway, it seized itself to the ball joint stud and won't turn without rotating the stud. It's not coming off without either splitting the nut or cutting it off. |

I didn't see this earlier. Definitely more than the 305. Without trying, I can break the tires loose, earlier today, I broke them loose going into second gear at about 30mph and did a short fishtail |

I packed the bike to load onto the van that I take to work from Kingston to Bothell. I rode from Bothell to Kingston with a ferry trip in between
You must have been in the 2nd gen beside me at the light on Viking Way - I forgot you had that one |
