I am looking at the UMI/J&M caster and camber plates for the strut towers. What do these offer over the stock replacements, besides the extra range of motion. If I did not need the extra range of motion would I gain the same performance by getting the stock replacements? Do the stock mounts wear? Are both the after market and stock replacements, both have a solid bearing?

Thanks

The biggest benefit is the bearing, the stock replacements have a bushing that does wear and also flexes. The housings are probably a little better, but I don't know how much flex is induced in the housing, since the rubber and other stuff will move first.

Is this the same as the solid strut mounts? I think the main focus should be to get the pillow ball mount for the strut.

THESE?

If so, the main feature is getting rid of the rubber bushing which flexs to full amount before the strut starts to work.

The extra adjustment is more for hardcore racing/drifting IMO.

Stock housing is rubber.

I saw one kit a while back where you had to drill out the weld-rivits in the stock, and put an insert in the stock. Then bolt or weld it it back together.

Id just buy all new ones honestly. Thats what I did.

Most will buy these for the handling improvement, but I have to say I noticed better braking then handling. Either way, they are lightages better then stocks!!
