When you guys did your front brake kits, did you use lock tight for the caliper relocation brackets and wheel spacers? I figured it would be good to do since I never intend to take them off again. _________________ E30

The caliper carrier mounting bracket yes. After test fitting the complete setup.

Even with loctite I've had mine shimmy loose. Next time the front end is in the air they're getting safety-wired. _________________

YES on the brake adapters. I had one shimmy loose also, I used red when I did them last time, so far so good. Ian's idea of safety wiring them is a good one, if you have a line of sight and bolt heads that will work for it. The layout of my -V calipers won't allow for me to safety wire the adapter bolts. I have lock washers, and lock-tite to hold them in.
Wheel adapters, I didn't use any one. Make sure you follow the torque procedure you get, and recheck the torque several times in the first few hundred miles. I have not had any problems with them after initially getting the bolt stretch and the alum stretch out of the way. |

I think safety wire is overkill. Plus the PITA of drilling the holes in the bolt heads.
Never had a problem with loc-tite and torqing the bolt to it's desired torque. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| Thanks guys. And ya, using spaces for the wagon wheels. I torqued the bolts down and used blue lock tite on the adapter bracket. I got everything up last night but was under the impression my 3rd gen brake lines would work. Brake lines are too small at the caliper. Now what? Do I get 98+ lines? |

| Ended up the ls1 caliper has larger bolt heads, a larger bolt shaft, different thread, but still fit the brake lines. Crisis averted and parts installed! |
