I've been addicted to browsing LS1tech forum classifieds for at least a month. All the LOOKING resulted in WANTING which ended in BUYING. Apparently, what I'm a sucker for are cool, unwanted, new parts that are being sold cheap.... whether I need it or not. Laughing So I now have in my possession an NOS progressive nitrous controller and a FAST 102 intake.

I don't have nitrous but I've been toying with the idea. I just couldn't pass up the deal on the controller knowing that nitrous might be in my future.

The intake is a bit of a stretch. It is a FAST 102 for LS3/L92 style heads. Problem is I have LS6 cathedral port heads on my car. So this is an interesting dilemma..... go LS3 heads or trade/sell the FAST 102 for something else? I'm pondering my options. I probably would do ported LS3 heads but the compression ratio would drop pretty low on my engine. If I change pistons I might as well go all the way and do a 408 stroker with my iron block.

Now do you see why I laid off cars for so long? It just gets out of control very quickly. Burnout

Solution is to buy another Ls motor for your parts and 3d gen, and leave the 4th gen as it is.

That is why some of us can't afford to date.... Wink hahahahahah

Easy solution. Iron/408 for the red bird, you had a supercharged big-block in there....if you are going to take it out...go big, or don't bother. Wink

Just let the wife redecorate the bedroom/master bath...she won't even notice you are spending money on your car in the garage.

That is a possibility. There is a reason why I am still driving the 4th gen and haven't touched it yet. It only makes sense to tear down the 4th gen if I use the T56 that's in it. Otherwise, I already have a TH400 I can use.

I've been driving the 4th gen trying to decide if I really want the T56. I have a love-hate relationship with manual transmissions. I love them for everyday use -- The overdrive, ability to select any gear any time without big jerky clunks and tire chirping, and listening to the engine sing to my every command. I hate them when I want to race because the launches suck and the shifts are slow.

My racing style is quick 0-60 sprints and that very much favors an auto trans. I don't tend to speed and I don't do flyby's or freeway roll-ons. Those are the things that favor a manual trans. I have to decide what is more important to me: 99 percentile driving, or 1 percentile racing. The Firebird is exclusively a fun car, so the 1% racing counts for a lot.

A built 4L80E is just too expensive and I'm not even sure it will fit in a 3rd gen.

Go with the ported LS3 heads and spend a couple hundred more and have them milled. Just dont buy them from TSP. If you wonder why, head over to the LSx forums, NW section, Broken Goat thread. If you would like more information about TSP give me a call at four two five nine four eight six zero nine three. I know of a large by large cam that will availible if your interested.
