I start Monday. Pay isn't the greatest, but it's a job.

Yeah back to the grind stone I guess. I have two more interviews but one is a small 2 man job shop and I'm not sure they have insurance available. This company is 47 years old, and not too long ago bought out Alcoa. To me that spells a healthy, stable company that I maybe could retire from. They are not publicly traded, they own themselves and have 38,000 employees world wide.
(I did my research on them before accepting the job)
So............yup I should find a way to party before then, but no one to party with really _________________ Member of the "Elite T56 Club" , big brake club, and "burgundy" (not red or maroon) car owner.

Thanks guys.
I feel very lucky I got a job in such a short period of time. Took 1 1/2 weeks.
Just found this on SAPA's web site. They are into some really cool stuff.

Well I'm busy Friday and Saturday evenings, but I think Sunday evening is free. Too short a notice to really plan much unless Sunday would work. _________________ Member of the "Elite T56 Club" , big brake club, and "burgundy" (not red or maroon) car owner.

You mean superbowl is more important than spending time with your buds?

Well now I have a delima.
Just been offered another job at $10,000 more a year wit ha decent sized job shop that makes molds and other special stuff. I'd have a chance to learn the mold making side of machining and they would let me use any machine there when it's not busy, just so I don't run a side business out of their place.
The owner is cool and we BS'd for 3 hours. Then when I left he was telling me the best way to get to North Plains from Vancouver. Yup........North Plains. 38 miles one way for me and probably through traffic both ways. The other job is maybe 7 miles away, big company, very stable, union shop. But NO government jobs there EVER.
And this morning I have a third interview with Cranston Machinery in Oregon City. I've turned down 2 other jobs already that paid way less.
So.................do I take the job in the cool place with the loooong drive, or make $10,000 less for the close job with guaranteed stability?
I need to make this decision today _________________ Member of the "Elite T56 Club" , big brake club, and "burgundy" (not red or maroon) car owner.

Just my two cents: I drive 25 miles each way each day in an old diesel work truck, and before that I was driving 35 miles each way in my Camaro.
10g a year is almost $40 extra every day you work, that'll buy a lot of gas. |

As for me, I drive 20 miles to get to my vanpool, then ferry it across from Kingston to Edmonds, and continue the ride to Bothell. Fortunately, my employer compensates some of the ferry/vanpool costs to make it more affordable

Go with the job that you will enjoy more. You already seem to get along great with the manager there as well. I drive that exact route that you would when I go to PIR (although 10 miles shorter) and I actually enjoy the drive. Plus you have the option of taking germantown everyday if traffic backs up enough ( fun drive). _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S
