Anybody else read Car Craft? In the March '11 issue they introduce a new project and it's an S10 that's getting a budget V8 swap w/ used TPI parts and total suspension redo. Shooting for around 300hp and road course handling. Should be a fun ride when finished.

"TPI" and "Roadcourse" is kind of an oxymoron. Laughing

Just saying.

With short straightaways.

I was a subscriber for 20 years and let the subscrition end a couple years ago. They decided to stick with carbs and old iron. No big deal but when did the last performance roll off the assembly line with a carb?

Saw that article. Was wondering why they went with TPI when they have always bashed it. Rolling Eyes

Actually, I think you're just doing a burn out contest, right? Seriously though, you're going to trash the rear axle if you keep abusing it like that. Every time I see a picture of your car you have smoke rolling off that poor tire. Laughing

no its a little 1/8 mile track set up on a local airstrip, I broke a tooth off the ring gear like 2 years ago still using the same diff, if it can't handle my abuse then it needs to be upgraded anyway Razz

Not to mention "S10" and "roadcourse". Rolling Eyes

This is why I stopped reading automotive magazines. They are so beholding to their advertisers that they're just a joke. They will print anything to sell copies, and sell car parts.

Nice burnout pics, BTW. Don't let Jon dissuade you. He wants to put traction control in a perfectly good Firebird. Pokey pokey

I don't know about roadcourse+TPIV8+S-10. But it would make a heck of a cool parts getter/ Street machine. Im considering adding a couple cylinders to my S-10 with fuel injection Cool

Ehh... I talk smack about the S10's not being a road course vehicle, but they have the same Malibu suspension as the F-body, they weigh about a half ton less, and they're stiffer. Shrug

Fbody's used a nova suspension, not the bu's. But you're right.. the s10 uses a metric version of the chevelle front suspension.

Yeah, with a really optimized weight distribution, and stellar aerodynamics. I am sure a S10 with a V8 would be a heck of a g-machine. (can you sense my sarcasm?)
