				| My brother is out of town and asked me to take is 05 GTO to Turbo Tech in Tacoma today to have Ellis dyno tune it. The GTO has ported LS3 heads - intake - injectors, .618 L 23?D cam, LT headers, CAI etc. It also has a 2800 stall convertor, reason I bring this up is becuase all pulls were done with the convertor unlocked.
Best numbers were 418.14 rwhp (@ 6400rpm) and 365.79 rwt (@ 5200 rpm). I thought it would have put down better numbers, especially better tourqe numbers. The AFR was fairly steady at 12.5 from 6K to 7K.

				| Lol, I would be happy if my IROC was putting those numbers down. My brother isnt happy at all though. He was expecting 450hp / 420t. I planned to play a joke on my brother and have a pull done at 3/4 throttle, then post it on LSX nation. After the tune was done and the numbers confirmed I didnt think that was such a good idea.
After the denial he started talking about a 408 stroker built up for a turbo....

				| 418 to the wheels is no joke. RW numbers always seem to leave people dispointed the first time (ask many of us how we know). To put 450 to the wheels, you have to be making well over 500hp on the motor. LSx's will do that, but that is still a big ask for the number of cubes, and still being on pump gas compression. | |

Dyno disappointment seems to be a crew tradition. My one question would be why the low stall?

				| I know all about being dissapointed at the dyno also. But I have driven the crap out of my brothers car, it feels stronger than what the dyno says. After talking to him tonight and getting a couple hundred miles in his car in normal driving conditions under my belt we both think the used stall convertor he purchased / installed may be the cause of the low tourqe numbers. I noticed that it doesnt flash as high as it did a couple of months ago, pulling up to lights I could feel the heat coming from under the car and also smell really hot oil, not sure if there is a leak but it smells like it.
My IROC with a stock ZZ4 short block, old school trick flow heads ( with shot valve springs), small comp cam ( 214I 220E, .488I, .509E 112 LSA) made 356RWT on this same dyno 9 years ago. Something isnt adding up.

I miss spoke, the stall used to flash to 3600 rpm, but for some reason it only flashes to 3k now. It may even be lower than that, all pulls started at 3K and there wasnt a spike that you would normally see.

				| Those are great numbers! Just to put it in perspective, my supercharged '94 'Vette put down 420 RWHP and would walk most cars with a 122 mph 1/4 mile trap speed. An auto trans doesn't dyno as well as a manual trans either. I wouldn't get wrapped up in dyno numbers. All that matters is what it can really do. Take it to the drag strip and see what it's got in it. | |

				| I hear what your saying, but the tourqe numbers are really low for his settup. My brother did his homework, and honestly, went with a build that is well traveled. His car should be putting down more than 400 RWT, on any dyno.
Ellis is taking the car to the BOP drags in Bremerton next weekend, that will tell the rest of the story.

I would not be suprised by bottom 12's at 115 mph. My brother will be dissapointed by anything less than 11's. I dont think it will get there based on driving the car.

Your corvette made about the same rwhp, but it weighed about 500 pounds less than the GTO. What do you think the traps should be for the dyno numbers on the GTO?

Anyhow, I didnt get home until 3:30 PM, just in time to see the end of the Husky ass kicking by Nebraska.

I dont have your number stored, send me a PM or call my cell phone again so I can save it.

				| Welp, Ellis rebuilt thetransmission in my brother GTO yesterday. The TQ convertor took it out. The pan had a 1/2" of material in it, the clutches were toast and the convertor was ballooned. Word of advise, dont buy cheap or used tourqe convertors.

It pulls haaaarddd on the top end now. I would not be suprised to see mid - high 11's and 450 RWHP and 440ish RWT out of his goat now.

				| He needs to spend another couple grand on the rear end / driveshaft but the way it sits now it should be good for it. He is going to dyno it again in January, I'll post up the numbers then. | |

				| No, his ADD wont allow that kind of time to pass to get his numbers. He wants to take it back to TT the first week of January. | |

I'm not surprised. I'm glad Ellis fixed some of the hiccups and now he'll really be able to have fun. Only on Mexican streets of course. | |
