Slotted is to reduce heat, and drilling is to reduce weight (I believe).

But generally, unless you have really huge rotors, and if you arent gonna be doing a lot of heat producing twisty race courses. You should be fine/better off without slotting or drilling.

your better off with solid in all cases. The drilling mixed with heat from braking, tends to cause stress cracks. Also, the extra mass of a solid rotor is what does the heat disapation, the heat is absorbed by the rotor, from the pad, then the heat is disapated to the air, through the internal vains. The only place you ever see drilled rotors, in the racing world, is on rear rotors, they do tis because the drilling tends to give the pad a little diffrent intial feel, some guys (porsche drivers come to mind) like the feel of a drilled rotor, in the rear. The slotting is old tech. it along with the drilling was to help vent exaust gasses from the pads, new pad tech has come along, adn the gas buildup is almost nill, so they really aren't needed. There is some merit to their ability to 'clean' the pad, but I don't see a need for, with the brake pads you can get today.

Any reason you went with the LS1 set, vs the Bob Bishop C5 setup?

Ohhh yeah, but for the street if you don't heat them up too much, you shouldn't have a problem with drilled/slotted rotors, I myself won't run them, but they do have a good 'bling' factor.

Im unfamiliar with the Bob bishop is why, this is the first time its mentioned, i can also sell my brake upgrade if that it much better, but the concern is... what is the price difference? i picked up these ls1 ones for $160.. and plus shipping. what can i get the Bob bishop for? I am sure i can make all my money back on them if the other setup is a much better way to go. Thanks, maybe i should start askin before i buy anything like i did with rotors heh.

Bob bishop sells brackets for running the C5 calipers and rotors.

http://chris96ws6.mtfba.org/c5brakes/Brake%20Brackets/brakeinstallinstr.htm

I'll try to find a link for his page where he sells the brackets. it will set you back a little more, since the rotors and calipers for the C5 are probably a little more than the LS1

I got the slotted and drilled on mine and they do look very nice but as dewey says the solids are the best bet for performance and longevity. I don't drive mine too much anymore, but if it were to be a daily driver I would have gone with solids.
