|
|
About 19-20 days ago, the neighbors car rolled down her drive and into my garage. Luckly the door took most of the force and slightly hit my car spider-webing the paint on the bumper and rolling it forward a few inches.
So I FINALLY heard from them. Said for me to go to whatever shop I choose and get a quote. Took it to a dealership. I requested they strip the bumper down and repaint it. He said its cheaper to replace the bumper and paint.
So grand total of 913.xx.
WOW!!
If I get that(which I doubt) looks like a new paint job will be in order this winter. _________________ 2008 GMC Z71

watch the dealership, they are usually hacks. They are production shops, get it in and out.
Not to mention for 900 bucks that sounds like a Jobber bumper. They suck. They are crappy quality, dont fit worth crap, and usually have imperfections. We send 1 in 10 back because we cant even make it work.
If it is your OEM bumper I would try to keep it at all cost. If its just spidered a bit its just in the paint. You can sand that down and repaint it and it wont come back. And if the paint is in good shape there is no reason to strip it, that will actually cause more issues in your bumper. Once you strip the bumper down, you have to prime the whole bumper, then sand down the primer again before paint, and in doing that can cause waves, ripples, bad orange peel and unless they do a fantastic job on it you could end up with a bumper that looked better before even with the spiders lol _________________ 1987 - Trans am GTA, hooker headers, Borla catback, Cat delete, CAI, 9.6 @ 75mph 1/8mile

Well progress is being made! I agree drive time in the Pac-NW is at a premium right now!
But take it in stride, get your ride dialed life is good!

I never noticed the last 2 post???
Anyway, I planned on doing the work myself. The paint is cracked and needs to be stripped down. And yes, I wanted to keep the OEM bumper. Wasnt to happy about them wanting to replace it. But hey, what ever to get me money. Hopefully the check is to me, and me only. Not the stealership.
But I finally heard back today from the Ins company. They de-quoted the quote a 100 bux. So I will be VERY pissed if the check is made to me and the stealership as I sure cant have them do the work now(not that I was going to anyway).
But hopefully I can use this money, put some with it, and repaint the whole car this spring |
