| So if you have a 305, and you want a 350.. can you buy a 350 short block and bolt on the parts you have? |

I would go with a long block, but 305 heads can be used on a 350. Everything else should bolt right up. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

John, that way depends on deck height and head chamber size.
Nonsense... what fueling setup do you have?
If it's TPI and you buy a 350 TPI engine all you need to change is:
Knock sensor
Injectors
ECM Prom
To 350 versions. The rest is the same. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

K because Luke's gonna go buy a whole different 305 TBI and just put his TPI intake on. I was wondering if he could go get a 350 and put all the stuff thats on his 305, in the 350 block.

| That is a loaded question. If you pickup a late model block ( one peice rear main, roller cam) yes everything will bolt up. This is what should be done. |

I would need a new prom as well which would cost more than that motor alone, and if I got a 350 I would want to put 350 heads on it and I would need new injectors I think
Only reason I going 305 again is cause I'm trying to do this as cheap as possible _________________

Injectors or an adjustable FPR.
Eprom can be had for around $80 new last time I looked. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Injectors are cheap as well. Dave has two sets for under 100 bucks each for sale right now.
BTW, if he's burning his own chip, and just piggybacking the PROM, does it matter what displacement the PROM itself is looking for? |

I only have about $250 for the swap... that's enough for the motor from bruce, lt1 cam and new gaskets _________________

I meant that it was possible, perhaps not for him. The previous owner of my T/A had a 350 short block and had rebuilt the LB9 heads with the intent of using them on it. |

If you have a good smog 350 with the huge dish pistons, the 305 head is a great choice. They flow well and will bring the compression of that smogger back up.
And as Paul is meaning, measure everything out. They may work, they may not. |
