Hey all, its been a while but I'm still around. Car has been running well and having fun in the texas sun!
I'm about to start tearing into this front end and am looking for a list of parts. So far I'm looking to get new center link, idler arm, tie rods, sway bar bushings, control arm bushings, rag joint bushing, And ball joints.
Is there anything I'm forgetting? I can get a rebuild steering box for about a hundred bucks, is that something that is recommended to replace?
Thanks for the advice guys, I miss ya'll down here.

If you're real adventurous you could rebuild the steering box. I've done one. From then on I vowed to just buy one. Rebuilt units arent the best either. They only change the soft parts and bushings, the worn gears are reused. Same if you rebuild it yourself. You can spend all that time and still have a sloppy box.
Have you done struts and strut bearings? Remember they hold the upper side of the tire in place. |

| FWIW I would look for a junkyard IROC box. The ratio is great, although the turn radius is lessened. I loved the one in my IROC. |

| If you do the a-arm bushings, save up and get the Del-a-lum bushings for them. After driving Alloy's car with those bushings, I am kicking myself for not doing then on my car. Next time I have the a-arms off, I am doing them for sure, needed or not. |

So new gear box isn't really worth it unless mine us leaking? because the slop wil still be there,
Damn those things are pricy! What makes then so much better? At 4 times the cost of energy suspension Poly bushings, I'll let some one get them for me as a wedding present. Hint hint. lol
I did the kyb shocks a few years ago so they should still be ok. didn't think about strut mounts, I'll do those too.

Biggest difference I did was going to the spohn steel strut mounts.
Deweys comment makes me wonder about the a-arm bushings _________________ 2008 GMC Z71

They are basicly a greasable solid bearing for the a-arm. It lets it move freely with zero deflection. They are stinking arseome. I did the energy bushings when I did mine, yeah they are an upgrade from stock, and much more from a worn out stock bushing, but the del-a-lum's are in a league of their own. Its like comparing Koni shocks, to a set of new Monroes, compared to 20 year old blown out stockers. |
