|
|
Oh, so I have rebuilt this stupid thing more times then I can remeber. I have had it completely rebuilt it, even pulled apart the switch and re-soldered it.
Thought I had seen everything. Nope.
So now my hatch motor has decided to NOT stop running. It stay in the up position, it will pull the hatch all the way down, click, then go right back up and continue to do so untill I unlatch the hatch.
I searched TGO but they are useless.
The switches appear to be fine, the hatch was working perfectly, has a new fuse relay thing. It will also stop part way down, but as soon as it flips the switch for full down, it comes right back up.
So annoyed with this dumb thing, at the shop right now trying to fix it, anyone else had this happen??? _________________ 1987 - Trans am GTA, hooker headers, Borla catback, Cat delete, CAI, 9.6 @ 75mph 1/8mile

ok nevermind lol
I remember it did this to me when I first got it, and it was because the relay was faulty.
So i just pulled the relay off, and it was full of water, guess I didnt get the hatch leak fixed *sigh.
But plus side, my pull down unit now works perfectly without the relay in place. Dunno why, but im leaving it off until I have another issue _________________ 1987 - Trans am GTA, hooker headers, Borla catback, Cat delete, CAI, 9.6 @ 75mph 1/8mile

only problem with that is now youre getting power to the motor straight from the wires, they put relays in place to use a small current to siwtch a large power saving weight and materials, the small wires probably wont handle that too long id check your connections and make sure theres nothing jumpering the 2 wires together, water maybe? _________________ If you expect a kick to the balls and get a slap to the face its still a victory

Other members here in the past have found that water was coming in around the hinge that goes through the glass. A little silicone fixed it. Not sure if that is happening to you but another thing to consider.

In theory though should the wires not be turning the relay on and off to begin with? It shouldnt work at all with no relay in? There is no water or anything jumping it together right now.
The wires run to the connector for the relay, and then they run back out of the connector to the motor, I just pulled the connector out of the relay.
So far no issues, the wires dont heat up and everything seems to be running just fine, but ill let ya know lol _________________ 1987 - Trans am GTA, hooker headers, Borla catback, Cat delete, CAI, 9.6 @ 75mph 1/8mile
