Cathlamet was host to the 2nd annual Cathlamet Down Hill Corral last weekend. These people are crazy. If you've ever been here in Cathlamet you know the size of the hill that goes from the highschool down to the city dock. Thats the course. This year there was 83 contestants. Several world champions and international competitors.. so this is getting to be a big deal sorta. Here's a vid from the 2nd place finisher.

That's kind of cool. Why is Cathlamet the mecca of longboarding?

We had a young man who is very interested in longboards convince his mother to organize a race. Originally it was just going to be a pushrace, but after consulting others they decided to go for the whole deal. So now theres 2 pushraces on the island, slalom courses, and the big down hill run. The racers seem to like it because of the huge hill and better pavement then some of their other courses.

Anyway, its pretty cool to have something like this going on around here.

I ride longboard, these guys are nuts, my board picks up speed and keeps it for so long that it's added up to a bad experience a couple times.

looks like fun tho.

I love my longboard but I'll never do that. Fastest I like to go is about 25mph. At my old place ( Sad ) there was a one mile long hill that I could go 25 and stay ahead of traffic. Pretty fun to manual the intersections Very Happy
