Okay, here's the plan, Dave.... you put your car in an ad right next to his car and price it at only $14,000. It will look like a good deal in comparison and some sucker will bite. |

I'm up for it. I garranty my car is as clean as his, not sure if your insinuating it isnt? I just dont think people will pay that kind of money for a modded 3rd gen. I have almost 30k into mine, and part for part in that ad I have the same or better, but if I had to sell it, dont think I could I could get 10K for it. Not becuase it is a POS, but rather becuase it has 110K on the body / ODO and almost nothing is stock. Maybe I miss interprided your response, if so, disregard mine.
It is a nice example of 3rd gen greatness, it's just that most people still think they are white trash easily procured vehicles. I cant wait for this mindset to be gone, but it isnt yet. |

Just to nit pic, becuase I am that guy, the 150.00 dollar after market steering wheel is listed as a mod. I spent 450.00 on a new GM replacement wheel for mine. I replaced the sundried cracked dash pad on mine in the late 90's with a GM replacement pad, costs about 350.00 bucks. I replaced all of the weahter stripping, pin striping, head lights, turn signals, side markers, both sets of door hinges ( not pin replacement, complete hinges),all switches for windows, locks, rear hatch, and just about every thing else that wears out along with the T-Bar under the T-Tops with genuine GM parts. The T-Bar was the last one in GM inventory, it was located in a dealership in Portland.
My 87 is as close to a new car as you can get with the amount of miles on it. Al and Iansane have seen it up close and I had it at a group gathering just after putting it back together after the repaint. This was back in 2004 at a go cart track in Bothell. My car is in fantastic condition considering the miles and thrashing I do to it when it is driven. |

Anyone on this board could build that car for far less than $15500! _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

Bull shizzle.
I'm not saying its worth it but 15k isn't getting one of these cars running 12 sec quarter miles and driving and looking like a new car. Could prolly do one or the other, but not both. I'm talking about all the details like Dave mentioned, which is what I have to start doing to my car now. Its gonna get spendy fast. |

That car is not worth what he's asking. But it could not be built for what he's asking. Depreciation is a bitch, no?
BTW, I think that's twice today I've agreed with something Rodney said. |

Give me $15k and we'll see...
Craiger, who used to post on here had a '92 Z28 in the 12s with a Paxton and tuning. His car was beautiful and he had way less than $15k in it. |

Don't ever add up your receipts. It will surprise and scare you. Kind of like the guy that says its a 5min job.. Until you time him at 45min.
I was trying to build my stepside project on the cheap. I had $10k worth of parts and still only had a chassis with a rough body. This 2nd gen project is also supposed to be on the cheap.. probably got $4500 invested allready. I've had the 87 far too many years to even have a clue how much money is in it. |

It was just a joke. Wasn't knocking on you. Just insert anybody's name in my comment and it's the same joke. |

For the most part, the general public's mindset is right here. Were still probably another 10 years away from seeing a real spike in the value of our cars. Although the Fully loaded IROC's and GTA's have been increasing in value pretty steadily in the last couple years. They're even becoming harder to find in junkyards. _________________
