No carpet, but with a little bit of scrubbing and some vinyl dye I had most of the interior pieces to put back in my 74. I've got to say that the duplicolor vinyl dye seems to work awesome. Was doubtful because the gloss was blotchy.. but a little bit of armor all and it all turned shiny! Here's a few pictures of the interior journey so far.
Old seat.. Nasty!
I had 3 sets of back seats I found out. I was given a parts car that had extras.. One very ugly blue one..that even the upholstery pattern is weird on, and this very very nice black one with vertical pleats. Upholstery was super soft and flexy and the stuffing is modern foam instead of that burlap crap the old one had. Only issues were a small tear I had to repair from something being set on one, and some rust staining from other stuff sitting on them. Here's where the duplicolor vinyl dye came in!
This headliner was in the extra parts as well. It's made for a 79 so it doesnt quite fit perfectly.. but it only misses in a very small spot in back. I had to scrub it up then reglue the vinyl to the backing with 3m spray glue. This glue is awesome as well! I've never found a bad 3m product yet. I had to steal a different dome light assembly from the parts bin too. I had several sets of visors but this set was nicest. I had to hand stitch the border back on them however.
Still to go are the door panels. I'm going to try and use this set that are original to the 74 because they have a hard plastic bottom with a storage bin. They look to be in good shape other then in 2 pieces. I think they'll clean up well. If they arent useable I also have a set of black 79 one piece units.. They're your basic flat door panel however.
Some other work and a couple "artsy" shots. A couple weeks ago I went ahead and opened up my ram air scoops. This car had the hood, but not the ram air option, so it came sealed up. The hood still isnt hooked to the air cleaner but at least now its dumping some cool air on top of the engine at speed. The same craftsman roto tool I use for porting worked perfect for this. Just used the pencil flex attachment and a spiral bit. Some of the fiberglass was 3/8" thick!
In these next 2 hannah the wonder dog decided she'd pose. Actually some of my better shots with her.

Rattly doors are the WORST!
Car looks good, Brandon. It may look ugly from the outside, but from the inside it will look fantastic. |

Well finally finished up tonight. Got door panels and new front seats in. Btw Aaron.. I'm not sure what those seats are out of, but they dont fit a 2nd gen. They sure look like 2nd gen seats though. The rails are 3" too short where they bolt to the floor.. but 1.5" too long where they bolt to the seat. So my rails won't bolt to the seat... and their rails won't bolt to the floor. Also they're 2" higher in the back. I did just drill 2 new holes and go with them though. Of course the holes go right through a crossmember. Guess that means they won't come off in a wreck!
Also discovered I have a camaro console. Which is exactly the same except for the brackets up front that are supposed to bolt to the dash. It's a bit rough anyway.. so maybe some day I'll find a different one. Wishing I could get newer door panels but these deluxe ones happen to be discontinued. Finding alot of these parts are scary spendy. I'm sooo glad that a friend gave me that parts car now. I almost turned it down.
One of the best things... I bought new seat belt guides for the seats. No more belt draggin across my neck!!
Last thing I did was slap a bulb in the dome light.. and what do you know.. the thing even works!
Anyway, I'll try to get some pics tomorrow. Stuff cleaned up pretty good. I think it looks acceptable anyway. Probably should have re-dyed everything, but oh well. |

Sorry to hear about the seats, B. I have no idea what they must be, since they looked like no thirdgen seat I've ever seen.
Are you gonna recover them in vinyl? |

No.. going to use these seats til they come apart. Then probably recover/refoam the correct seats. They do feel good though. Nice and firm.
Oh, and no reason to be sorry. They do look like 2nd gens.. probably fit some other gm. And they'll serve their purpose. Was just letting you know that they're from who knows what. LOL |

Some "finished" pics(at least until carpet). Still need carpet and a rear package tray. Some pieces arent in the best shape, but they're better then an empty interior.
And yeah.. those are "black" belts.. a bit faded I'd say! |

| Nope.. 160mph speedo and idiot lights. It was kind of a luxury optioned formula. 2 barrel 400/th400 dual exhaust, no gauges, but then a/c, upgraded door panels and rear defrost. It does have the sport suspension and quick ratio steering however. |

Sure wierd how some people ordered there cars back in those days. Lol
My buddy down the street just picked up a '67 Plymouth Satillite that has a 318 1BBL, auto, power steering, no power brakes, and factory air. Makes me wonder how much they saved not getting the brake booster lol |

Must have been a thing back then. The Monterey had factory power steering, but manual brakes. |
