Well, went and looked at a 350 today a guy had in the paper. Said its a 350 out of a 80 corvette but he put 86+ heads on it.
he says the motor only has around 30k miles on it, was pulled to put a big block in and has been sitting full of fluid for awhile.
Only $250 and i should have my third gen at least moving for awhile til i get my 406 t56 going.
I'm prolly gonna slide my cam in it, anyone got some decent heads? cheap and at least better than stock sittin around? hehe riight.

yeah Mark but if you were going to lie about a 'vette' motor I don't think you would pick 1980 vintage Wink

Cool beans on the engine - hopefully that will be a nice quick swap for you.

Don't forget, in 1980 you could get a 305 in the Vette. Laughing

And the trans-ams made more power then the vettes from 73-80 too! Razz
Even the mighty 454 was humbled by the pontiac 455, the transam had 20 more hp..

Just a history lesson I guess. No magic about a vette motor, but if its low miles then its all good anyway.

yeah i not really lookin for a great super motor... its just temporary to let the car actually drive.. its been sittin for almost a year now.

Also anyone know casting numbers for the 350 (39700010 or somethin? or is that for a later 350?..)

also the guy tried to tell me it has fast burn heads on it.. i dont believe that but...

if i get numbers from the heads could we figure what they are?

also going to put my cam in it, i got a 270h comp cams, want to do a lil headwork just dont wanna spend a bunch of money dont need it fast. ill figure it out once i get it runnin if i wanna do maybe a mild port to the heads, see how it runs with the cam.

Finally startin on this car again is kinda exciting.. i still gotta fix my gibby fender incident, plus gotta buy the SS hood still. woohoo

Sounds like you learned the first lesson of bargaining. To get one pay cash now and take it away as fast as you can. Lost an aluminum driveshaft at the spring swap meet that way too. Didnt want to carry it around and was low on cash.. Went back before leaving.. guess what.. its gone.

yeah..i forgot to post my reasoning...

here in indiana{in michigan right now} there was a advertised 355 1972 vette, had been rebuilt blah blah....he left heads off for inspection, sure enough it was rebuilt, but it was a fugging 305,he swore up and down it was a 350 .030 over...eh oh well..

btw you guys.....i completely forgot but here at the wrecking yard in hammond...motors are 150 bucks COMPLETE....there are about 15 COMPLETE LT1 motors...2 of which are fbody versions, the other are the 260 hp iron impala/caprice 9C1 motors....

my parents are sending me some christmas/bday coin to purchase a bunch of these... Very Happy

anybody want one?

none of these have warrantys{well they do,but you have to return em to the yard,and they give you another one}

but i figure for 150 bucks, the blocks, intakes, heads are worth that much money, plus there have to be at least a few runners out of the groups...there are 3 complete TPI cars in there as well, with one missing a driverside runner.
