Got some new tuning parts.. instead of trying to work with old or leftover crap from 20 years ago.. Got a pertronix adjustable vacuum advance and a pertronix mechanical advance kit.. Needed to tone down the vac advance during cruise.. some pinging on slight grades. Also wanted to get better quality centrifigal advance weights in this distributor.. aftermarket stuff is known to wear out in a hurry. It's all basically cheap sh(* . The pertronix was the only one that looked like it wasnt the same unit repackaged. It actually uses a chromemoly center and weight set. These are slightly lighter then stock type stuff so the springs are alot lighter weight then a normal kit.

So tonight I install this stuff.. Also made a little adjustment to the secondary air door on the carb. Let's say.. NOW WE'RE TALKING! I need to get it back to the track. Smile Flashes my convertor almost to 4 instead of 3k. Hazes the tires through the gears even trying to pedal it. Rev's are much quicker now. Not lazy like before. Not having a real pontiac before... I was worried that was just the way they ran.

I still need to add an electric pusher pump at the tank. At the strip I have to let it cool down good or I run out of gas near the 60ft. So I probably still have fuel delivery issues if I was able to monitor pressure while making a run.

So .. still on the agenda exhaust, pusher fuel pump, rear gears, and a posi.. Always more to do! Amazing though how much these inexepensive things can really make a difference.

Found my dyno sheet from this year.. Run aborted at 4.5k rpm due to lack of fuel and pinging.. made 236rwhp.. Cant wait to try it again next time! Cool

Those real ponchos are cool as hell and seem to make good power! Nice to see you dialing it in.
