Two new thirdgens at the McChord Pull-A-Part:

Black '86 or '87 Sport Coupe. 2.8L/700R4 car. No GFX. A/C delete car complete with dash and box. Mostly complete black interior (no seats)(James, you want black parts to complete my set?). Only problem is this car was seemingly previously owned by John, because it was full of wasps who did not seem particularly pleased withe me pulling the hood off of their home. As such, the A/C delete box remains out there. Doh!

Red '90 Firebird. 3.1/700R4 car. Hood front bumper and fenders are no good, everything else looks good. Interior is grey and mostly there (no seats).

If anybody wants anything off of either car, I will pull and sell any part for shipping + yard fees.

I've had a problem with wasps at that Pull-a-Part before also. Sad

I need a delete box as long as it's not cracked or chipped. You mind pulling it for me?

Dan already has dibs on it. Now I just need to man up and kill those damn wasps.

Ran in to their buddies at my work today. Not enough cold weather last winter, so now the little punks are coming out of the woodwork.

Took two full cans of Raid to kill the little bastards in my wheel well! When I knocked the nest off the car there were about 70 little bee bodies on the ground! Twisted Evil

IIRC the column in the Bird had been dropped for them to pull the gauges. The wheel was intact, along with the airbag cover. No blinker stalk (I took that Wink). You just want the column, or the wheel too?

We will be in Portland Saturday, but if you want to swing by my house I can leave it in front of my shop. I moved (again) since the last time you came by though. Laughing

You torn it apart? Alot of times it's just the 4 invert torx screws that loosen up, and cause it to be floppy.

Not many '90 - '92 f-bodies in yards around here. Pick-A-Part in Tumwater probably has one. And they've got 2.8 and 3.1 TBs laying around all over the place! Cool

Found a set of 16X8 4th gen salad shooter wheels at the yard in Poulsbo. Didn't have the cash, nor the space in the car to pick them up. The guy at the counter said $100 for all four. They're not perfect by any means, but very usable. One has a slightly bent bead and a scuff on one of the spokes and another has a fair amount of curb rash on it. 3 are missing center caps. If anyone is interested, I can go get them.

Where exactly are those for screws, and what needs to removed to get to them?
I am picking up an 86 today that has the column so loose that the ignition guts all fall apart and the steering lock will lock itself even with the key on. So either it is just real loose or I need a new column, I'd rather check for loose screws first.

You have to tear the column all the way down past the flex joint. Remove wheel, turn signal switch, key/tumbler, upper housing, spring, pull the 2 pins from the sides of the lower housing, unlatch the tilt latch then pull lower housing off of steering shaft.. now you should be able to see the screws.

Side pins come out with a cheap tool from schucks.

Don't even need the tool. Just get some long bolts (M5 or something), fender washers for them, and some big nuts to use as puller spacers. Wink

I am debating on the wisdom of sending flea into a GM steering column. This is a man who is stymied by a hatch pulldown motor. Wedgie time!

Well, you might have a point there. Pull down still doesn't work, mostly money there. Wind shield wipers still don't work, now I'm not sure if the air bag will work or not, the idiot light aka flea sensor is illuminated indicating problem with the air bag. But more seriously I really need to just replace the entire colomn, its held together with two big a$$ hose clamps, a piece of tin and masking tape. Yep masking tape, not even duct tape. So even if I do tighten it up its still ghetto even for the ghetto
