Who sells the aftermarket speedo gears for the T5? I need one calibrated to my 3.73's. I know someone posted the link but I can't find it... |

That's where I got mine from. Both drive and driven gears. _________________ 92 Camaro

If your tranny was for a 3.08, it will have a 9 tooth drive gear, the trannies fro the 3.23 and higher rear ends have a 7 tooth drive gear. |

Well I got my speed sensor out of a '89 v6 car, that had 3.42 gears, the tranny is out of an '85 Z28 that had 3.23's I believe. |

On the tail shaft, the drive gear will either be pink or green. The 7 tooth gear is pink. You should need a 21 tooth driven gear to go with, assuming you have stock height tires. |

I have the standard 245/50/16's.
So if my drive gear is pink then I need 21 tooth driven gear?
How come they only list a 19 and a 22? |

Use the gears for the TH350, they're the same. |

Oh that explains it...
These work also with the VSS rather than the speedo cable?
Sorry for all the questions, there website seems pretty confusing to me. |

Can't answer that one for you. There are also differences in the non VSS bullets for the driven gear, mine had a different length shaft and wouldn't seal in the bullet. Paul found a bullet for me where he worked. |

That is correct. Did that gear (I think it was 19 tooth...it was red anyways..) I gave you with the axle not end up not being the right one? _________________

I hate to be the one way off base here but since you're electronic VSS, won't you be looking for an SGI5 box or something?
edit; missed "be" _________________

Ian, I'm confused. He already has the electronic speedometer, right? Shouldn't it be just a matter of dropping the right gear in the bullet where the pick-up is? Might be different if switching from cable to electronic, although, that Dakota Digital box can make things easier.... |

I don't know, honestly. Do thirdgen electronic VSSs use gears or a reluctor ring? When I went from 2.73s to 3.23s I also swapped in the t56 which used the reluctor ring setup. The Dakota Digital box made up for the change in output (4kppm) and the ratio change.
I'm thinking if the electronic thirdgen VSS uses gears they you don't need the sgi5 because you CAN swap gears. However, if it uses the reluctor ring setup like 4thgens/t56s then you can't swap gears so you HAVE to use the sgi5. Right? |

The T-5s in Firebirds and later Camaros used a gear with a pickup on it rather than the ring, IIRC. So you would be correct, yes. |

So now im confused, can't I just swap that gear? It came with the cable bullet, I swaped it out for the VSS out of a later third gen just fine. |
