Ok I give and am now willing to conform to The Man and his rules.
After being pulled over four times in five weeks (twice in one day) and being given two tickets I guess I will fix my speedo. What I'm looking for is the buffer box thing that all the cool kids at TGO say my problem is.
Anyone have one of these things laying around that they would like to sell. _________________ Killing mailboxes since 2009 |

You have the buffer he needs on that ECU I gave you as well. The MAF ECU has a yellow box attached to it. That's what he needs I'm pretty sure.
Can the flea confirm this?
That or a speed sensor from the tranny. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

I'm not really sure which I need, but the speed sensor is easy to get.
The problem is that the speedo doesn't work under normal circumstances, but once in a while it springs to life for a few miles then dies. When it is working it bounces a bit wavering around +/- 5 MPH. But like I said most of the time it just doesn't work. I have no idea what it looks like, I have not had my pass. panel off ever, but I hear tell its next to the ECM, frankly I was hoping to get one in hand then find something that looks like it and swap 'em out. Opinion on TGO is this buffer box due to the fact that it does "wake up" but will always quit again, general consensus at TGO is that the VSS either works or it doesn't and if it doesn't then it won't wake up. I really don't know all of this is above my pay grade, but whatever it takes I need to fix it, if I pulled over again I'm making the news. _________________ Killing mailboxes since 2009 |

I think you should mount a wind speed meter on the roof.. or maybe just buy a gps. Don't you have a fancy phone? Put it in gps mode and tape it to the dash! |

i could get one of these
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/inpages/sigma_asi.php
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/inpages/nonheatedpitot.php
and yes it would have been cheaper to have bought these items than to have paid the tickets
Brandon, I did have a handheld GPS unit, but I lost it. If fixing the speedo proves to be too much trouble I'll hit walmart again buy another. phone does have one but the readout is too small to be worth while. (I tried it)
Seriously I do need this fixed, its getting expensive in a hurry. Aside from the cash out of pocket I am a truck driver and too many tickets could very easily force me to the soup line. This last ticket was 60 in a 55, I simply can't guess at my speed more accurately than that. State law says that tickets can not be deferred for those holding a CDL. I don't know when that went in to effect but it screws me.
I might actually get that pitot tube, I am building a plane and have the fuselage framed up time to start thinking about instruments. _________________ Killing mailboxes since 2009 |

On the 91 model, there is a small white box under the passanger side of the dash. This is your buffer box. 2 screws and 2 wire clips, its replaced.
Surely someone around here has one, and would likely give the thing to you. |

Luke (91camaro_rs) has the buffer box that goes under the passenger kick panel. It's attached to the second ECU I gave him that he's not using. If he's not using the box, you can have it. Maybe PM him if he doesn't see this thread again. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56
