ok this might sound as stupid as hell but here i go. ok lastnight at around 11am when it was around 40 or so degrees well i had the camaro parked at a angle to take some pictures and to clean her up and well i was going to jack up the rear of the car and do a lil washing underneath and when i started jacking it up and lifting up the rear tires you could here something on the tires when they were lifing up that sounded like if something is sticky and you are pulling it apart. so is this normal for all tires or do i actually have half azz decent tires? i cant think of the tire brand but the speed rating is like only 118 and there older 90's tires.

idk if they are sticking but usually when you jacked the car up the tires are going sort of inward so they drag on the ground. unless your in a indoor garage sometimes they will stick.

Couple of things:

Tires on the back of a solid axle car don't drop inwards when the car is raised (unless you burn up a bearing so bad the balls exit the race, but that's another story Razz)

You were parked at an angle, and most likely had your front tires turned in. You don't want to raise both rear tires unless the fronts are pointed straight ahead, and blocked with wheel chocks.

All tires will scrub when the vehicle is raised. More so it's an independent suspension, on rough ground, or being jacked wrong causing excess movement.

Then you still have a title. It is titled to whoever in your family owns it. You never need to show title, only registration. Title own shows who the legal owner is, even if you don't have that piece of paper in hand, the state still does. Its a good thing to have in case ownership is ever challenged, but other than that its not too big a deal. When you buy a new car it is titled to ABC bank Inc. or whoever the loan is through, however, it is registered to you. I'd be nervous as hell, but thats just my nature.

You initially made me think that the car was bought with no title at all. The only way to fix that is to go back to the last owner (title) and have them release interest in it and sign it over to you, but they could also say 'my car!! I was wondering where i left that.' Then you're SOL.

ok i think i get what you mean so the vehicle is still in her name proven by whoever does this stuff (govermnet, state hoever) and you dont actually have to have the paper saying so with you. well thats makes the finaly getting legal thing a bit cheaper! ok does anyone know how much tags would be since the old tags expired in 04.

One quick "file for a lost title form" from the DMV filled out by the registered owner and the title will arrive in the mail and be good to go.

Get the title. The cost for filing is only a few bucks.

If the car was stolen with the title in it, it would be very easy to forge the signature and "buy" the car from your Mom. Then the thieves just pay the tax and they would be sent a nice new title to your car.

. . .And because they don't have the car then they report it stolen, moms get arrested for auto theft, and its a crap shoot whether a judge will figure it all out correctly or not.

This has the potential for real entertainment.
