This badasss 5thgen T/A is the Hotrod cover car this month! I love it! Trans Am Depot's design is way cooler than the Lingenfelter LTA. What do you guys think?

Trans Am Depot T/A:

Lingenfelter LTA:

Trans Am Depot's car is powered by a supercharged LS3 while the lingenfelter version has a 455ci LSX.

Thanks for giving me a third option. Razz

Lingenfelter's is a 73-74, while the TAD is a 76-ish Smokey & The Bandit era knockoff.

Bottom line is that any car by any manufacturer which is that tall in the fenders/quarters area will be ugly as sin.

When I was a kid I remember Pontiac's "Wider is better" ad campaign for the Trans Ams. That stuff was sex. Now everything is just artificially jacked up, with monster donk wheels.

This new "tall car" fad is a joke. There has not been a single good looking car made for well over a decade now.

See? Now I'm just ranting. No no no...

Not at all. I'm with you all the way. Tall cars equal anti-sax.

Is the LP car rocking some ~18" snowflake-ish wheels?! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Brandon, how about those wheels for your 2ndgen?

You can get those all the way up into the 20s. There's a set of silvers on sale on a board i frequent right now.. brand new 17s and tires for $1k...

My car is too early for that style wheel actually. Thats more of a bandit era type wheel. I did envision the silver ones on the 87 though..

Edit, i'm talking the honeycombs on the black car. The snowflakes on the white car, while fitting for it, are kinda fugly lol.

I'm kinda mixed. I really really like the grill area of the white one. And while trying to do a retro car, they did a very good job on it. But the lower turn signals and rims are :puke:

As aaron said, the black one looks strait 100% like a smokey replica. I feel they did a very good job on it.

I feel if gm were to do either one, it would be like the black one.

The Lingenfelter is a 455 LS motor... Very Happy

I looked at pictures in Hot Rod magazine last night, and the cowl on the Lingenfelter is non-functional, just a hood ornament. The other T/A's cowl is functional, but is just the standard LS3.

Still...I don't like the tall look.

I agree, they are wayyy too damn tall to be a sports car. If they weren't so tall they would be damn sexy. I like the trans am depot one better though, if i had to choose one.

I'm boycotting the vote because I think both look silly.

The black car is obviously a Camaro with a huge bird on the hood. Tacky.
The white one is a mix of a 1st gen remake and 2nd gen front end. It's wrong. And it's ugly.

being that they are both based off of different year t/a, it's hard to pic one. i like them both. they both did a good job of doing the retro thing based off of the years they picked.

The white one just looks awkward to me, but I think there both trying to hard to be retro, throw in a couple new additions maybe I'd like it

It's supercharged? Didn't see that in the magazine...hmm.

I like the sound of a 455 LS instead of a...what displacement is the LS3? Laughing

Yup, its 6.2L (376ci) and got a Procharger. Doesn't say how much power it makes.
