I've got to say every time I order a summit brand part i'm surprised by the quality. It's always a name brand part stuck in a generic white summit box. My pontiac summit double roller timing set, turned out to be a cloyes at 1/4 the cost of the cloyes, and 1/2 the price of the identical part with a comp name on it. Cloyes makes the comp timing set as well.

Today I got a set of headers for my 74.. the swap meet steal headers didnt fit.. Sad

I fully expected to open the box and find really cheap headers, gaskets and hardware, and alot of "shipping paint" You know the stuff they put on headers just to keep them from rusting til you get them. But instead I find a nicely painted set of headers. Looks like they used the good bbq/stove paint. The flat black stuff that people say actually holds up. They're really coated very well too, inside as far as they could get and a nice even coat on the outside. Almost looks anodized. To top that instead of those cheap white paper header gaskets there's a set of steel reinforced graphite gaskets!

So I headed out to the barn tonight to see if they fit. Took the swap meet ones out and gave them a toss!! (wasted a whole weekend on those things) Slipped the summit ones right in. Had to remove my shift lock linkage, but they tell you that in the instructions. The paints so tuff I didnt even scratch it either!!

So I'll recommend summit parts to anyone. My only worry is that they've peaked. I can't see any way for them to get better, only worse.

I was just talking to my fiancee the other day, that I'm going to buy only Summit parts to cut costs on future projects. It's good to hear the quality is there. Saving $10 here, $50 there, will help.

Like you said though, it is scary to think they are at their peak, and end up selling defect/reject parts or turn to some cheap Chinese company.

I have made a few purchases from Summit recently for the T/A. I have been happy with their parts as well with the exception of my Flowtech headers and that really isn't Summit's fault. I'm just pissed I had to drill the O2 sensor hole! The bung was there but no hole! I guess thats so they can be used in non-computer controlled vehicles also. My Summit mini-starter is awesome! Cool

Thats good to know about there quality. I've been wiery to try the actual summit brand stuff.

As Paul has shown, my 454 is together and gone now. Ron is really enjoying the old truck too. I'm absolutely amazed that the thing is pulling down 11mpg with the big cam and 2800 stall. Truck has settled down about another 1" or so too.. its very low.

I sure don't expect everyone to remember everybodys builds. That was going to be a fun truck. Ended up being a different fun truck with a different owner. Now hopefully this 2nd gen will be my hotrod.

One of the first things I ever ordered were the summit plug wires. They're actually taylor spiropro's. Even says so on the receipt. However, they don't have the taylor boots, summit included regular boots. They're a very good wire though.

Hey me too! On my first ever motor swap. All I'd done before then was change a coil and spark plugs. '85 Camaro 305 in a 67 C-10. Miss that old truck.

I've been ordering stuff from summit since 1989. Got two bad parts, they took care of them for me. And I just ordered my new moroso pan and pickup from them also. Be like "Mike" on this one Wink

I LOVE Summit. They have great customer service and super fast shipping. I don't order from anywhere else. They always have the lowest prices too, even if its only a couple cents lol. When I was doing the exhaust on my car they sent me 2.5" pipe instead of the 3". I was pretty pissed but I called them and they mailed me the 3" over next day air for no extra money. It made my week lol

My only "bad" experience with summit was just this last christmas (09'), but it wasn't really summit's fault, it was the manufacturer of the part's fault.

Took no time to straighten the situation out, but had to wait a couple weeks because summit was out of stock, and McClod had to ship direct.

I will too give a thumbs up to summit.
