yup General Lee and KITT (although, im debating if weather or not i should just do a black and gold TA or a knight rider replica).
i found a shipping company that deals w/ collector cars that is offering a very reasonable rate from little rock to seattle.
the original plan was to put a fuel injection 360 magnum into it w/ mark, however i got scolded tonight by one of my former teachers and mopar nut/drag racer saying i have to put in a big block. most people are telling me to find a big block, sooooo, im gonna start looking for either a 383 or a 440 at the junkyards. if any of ya'll happen to see something at your local pull a part lemme know. _________________

| Why does everyone do KITT and General Lee Clones? Make something original! Make a KITT clone with the Charger and a General Lee Clone with the Firebird! |

I say go for a bigblock as well...
EFI 360?
blech.
its an oldschool mopar... don't ruin it by doing something like that
as for the Kitt car... there is one or two places online (excluding random ebay people) that sell the dash kits and nose pieces and even the electronics (down to the little green/red/yellow voicebox) ... but the entire kit is something like 8k when all is said and done (if not a little more) _________________

the new magnums are rated around the same/OR higher then ALOT of the old big blocks..
i dont see how its ruining it...that would be like ruining a 69 camaro by throwing an LS1 in it...
by the time he got the big block, and had it rebuilt...its GOING to be expensive...big block anything is spendy...big block mopar is way too pricy.
nvm the fact aaron, almsot all of the chargers were SMALLBLOCK 318 cars...
the only other swap that would be as cool, would be the new 5.7 hemi..those can be had for around 4 grand{sometimes less} with the ecm, harness and trans. |

Mopar guys are a lot more fusier about details like that when compared to F-body guys. Even 1st gen f-body guys.
I'd say for originality, go for the 360.
...And the weight....
...And the EFI.....
...And the power...
There are lot of pros and cons to each. But a 360 could easily push out 400hp for half the price and a half the weight of big block.
But, if you do decide on a big block. Do it right, get a 440 wedge with a 6 pack on it. _________________

for what farshin wants to do with the charger,it doesnt need a 440,or a 426..
a nicely built, nicely tuned 360 will move that charger along with some serious authority..
ported heads,cam,intake,valvetrain..and its a solid 450 475 hp..the magnums respond VERY well to mods.
take a look at the dakota guys running around 3500-4200 pounds..most of whom are serious little trucks running the 5.9 magnum, depending on the level of mods, there 14 second rides,to 11 second rides..it just doesnt take much to get alot of HP out of these motors.
factor in the charger is around the same weight as a excab dakota{around 3800},him running in the 13s,possibly the 12s{depending on what he wants to spend} is very possible.
yeah i preach about them,i love my 5.9..the amount of pure abuse this motor has seen, and is still running perfect, tells me something. talk to john, brandon,or mike s,i run the PISS outta this motor, and it begs for more everytime. many of the guys on DTO have over 200k miles,a few with over 250k on the stock longblock, the only real problem the magnum series motors have,is the plenum problem, mopar for some reason used a steel plate on the bottom of the aluminum intake with a gasket between them, the different expansion rates of the steel and aluminum creat a sawing effect on the gasket, and eventually it leaks, resulting in oil consumption,pinging...easily fixed for good though |
