take a paper clip and jump the two top right pins on your diagnostics port.
Then turn the key to "run" and count your check engine light blinks.
will always start with code 12 IIRC, then go onto the real codes. |

It will flash each code 3 times, starting with code 12, then end with code 12. 12 says the ECM is working. Everything that may show between the first and second sets of code 12 is a trouble code. _________________ 92 Camaro

Actually, code 12 means the distributor is not working, but yeah.
Get some paper and a pen, there might be a few codes. After you pull all the codes, unhook the battery for a minute, then hook it back up, start the car, and wait for the SES. Then pull codes again. That makes sure you have a current set of codes, with no history. |

Actually code 12 flashes every time you run the SES light diagnostic. :O) _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

ok got it all figured out got codes 32 and 33 so i was checking that out and found some unpluged vacum line on the back of the tb so got that all done aand now it runs better then ever. then i figured what the rattling sound that i thought was the water pump is turns out the belt tensioner pulley bearing is bad and the smog pump is making some noise. so if anyone has a working noise free serpentine smog pump around that would be cool to get all them rattles gone _________________

| Those smog pumps are notorious for being noisy. The one on my V6 is quite noisy, been that way for years, works fine though. |
