Heres a pic of a 1999 pontiac gto concept car. Notice this was 10 years ago.
And the 2009 camaro..
Looks like Chevy did it again and stole another pontiac design for their own. |

Or... Pontiac ripped off a 1969 Camaro, for their GTO concept.

| I am with Brandon on this one. I would call it a pontiac since it was designed by Holden in Australia. Since they made the GTO and the G8, I would call the new camaro a pontiac. |

there is a long history of this in GM. the Poncho mags cover it every now and again. pontiac has always been progressive with it's design. look at an early 80s 3rd gen camaro and a late 70s 2nd gen Firebird.
notice the lights, and general "pocket" design. certainly did not get that from the 2nd generation camaro.
and the spoiler.
so if you think your camaro is better looking then a firebird... thank pontiac for designing half of it for you. [img][/img] |

Once again, pontiac did a great job of stealing styling ques from the '63 Vette GS.
We all know that all the groups in the General's stable are taking design ideas from each other, but really, not every idea pontiac has is original, and not every chevy design is a rip-off. |

ohhh.. that is pretty.
and yeah, of course not EVERY thing is stolen from poncho. or else why would GM have allowed chevy to keep a design team. |

In the modern GM, i would bet that a lot of designers pull double duty for more than one brand name. |

Did you know part of the chevy v/8 is a pontiac design? The ball fulcrum rockers were designed by a pontiac engineer in his garage at home. Duntov had to ask pontiac if he could use the design in the new v/8 he was designing for chevy. GM then told pontiac that they couldnt release their new v/8 til 55 when the chevy come out. The motor was ready for production in 53.
Frankly I don't see the resemblance between the banshee and the older vette. But the 68 is an outright ripoff of the banshee. I have no idea why gm always puts chevy first. Seems like the only time the other companies beat them is when its a surprise. Like the original GTO and the buick GN. |

The only thing designed by Holden was the Zeta platform which is far easier to export to the US than a re-badged left hand drive converted automobile, and much cheaper as well.
Too bad the Zeta platform isn't being used for nearly as much as it was originally planned for
Holden does not equal Pontiac... it's far superior, Pontiac got the dumbed down versions of each car
That said, should I continue to want to make payments on a car... a GTO is in my future |
