Well I hit the crack / Mod pipe once again!
After driving with the original windshield and it’s 100’s of pits and the beginning stages of it delaminating, and hardly any UV, I thought it was time to end the Helen Keller windshield action and go with some new UV coated glass, and I couldn’t be happier with the switch. _________________

Also I replaced the temporary fun-house crap for the drivers side mirror. That was such a pain to look into the side mirror and see cars or what look like cars…fat, square, bubble, that cut and press reflective sheeting may get you by, but what a pain!
So as I was going along noting how the original window trim on the outside of the car was starting to dry out and chip apart, I decided to replace both sides as well, which brings me to the interior window trim, and it is doing the same. The felt pieces are crumbling so I got those inbound also.
The part that is pricey is the trim piece that goes into the front corner on the window! It attaches to the solid triangular piece at the front corner of the glass, those things were more than the outside trim…but if you don’t have those seal / trim pieces the windows don’t seal correctly, and it looks like shizzle! _________________

Fun stuff those window sweeps are, I just replaced the ones on my 89 and they made a big difference in the tightness of the door. 90% of my rattles are gone. I also reattached the inner sweeps to the top caps of the inner door panels, they were only on at two of three places along their length. Are the outer sweeps still available from GM? I've had the ones I put on for almost 3 years and finally got around to putting them on and need to do the 92 before long. _________________ 92 Camaro

Hey Al...how are you man?
The outside are still available through GM...well as of 2 weeks ago at least.
The inside are coming from year one. I have not done anything with them, I have a friend that is the parts dude at the local Pontiac shop and he has been real helpful with finding parts...and the install !
The coner sweeps / trim are still avialable through Pontiac, and are out of Cali mine will be here on Wednesday. Those goofy things were spendy...even with the discount,
but they are necessary to seal and make the window solid, I hate that earthquake of a rattle when shutting the door...very distinct sound _________________

So one afternoon when The Lama and I had lunch, he had mentioned the 5.0 shifter, and I had a chance to try his out!
Freaking hooked, that thing is just bad Azz…no more of this long ass throw to shift gears!
I also opted to put a new shifter boot in; mine was baked from the years and starting to dilapidate.
Once my schedule is a bit more flexible we will put that thing in…Can’t wait! It’s not like he hasn’t offered and such, but my busy season is here…gota make it count...$$ Feed my new found addiction _________________

You'll be surprised how much the sweeps and door panel top caps/inner sweeps take care of that. Some adjustment on the window may be in order too, but 75% to 90% is taken care of with the sweeps.
Do the inner sweeps you ordered part of the plastic top cap on the door panel? That's the piece I had to rivet together. |

Part number 96 is the trim / seal (sweep?) that i am in serious need of,
and will be here on Wednesday. Part 94 on my TA is perfect on both sides
so no worries there. They sell most of the stuff seperately...OUCH! _________________

OK, I'm not in need of that one. That's part of the triangle seal. I thought you meant the one that goes across the top of the door panel, that is one piece with the plastic top cap. Looking good though |

The paint was looking ok but I wanted to see what was really there, so Rich from primary colors came out and did his thing.
I also had him shoot some new black along the bottom trim, it had seen some road!
When he got done…Much better! _________________

So I was debating what to do with my air cleaner, and for the most part I left it as is...black.
But when you raise the hood, and see some Edelbrock amongst the spaghetti ball of hoses and goodies…was this giant black can…It bugged me, until recently I have been a stock kind of guy but I busted loose on this one!
I called in Spider to make it come to life, check it out.
He used silver leaf for the shark, and detailed it with white and outlined the shark with a silver-gray.
Yea that will work!!! _________________

I was always a fan of the car name, so I went way off base of the stock agenda…and gave the shark a nice door Tat. I know it’s not for all, but I dig it!
Spider did it free hand no worries...a true old school dude!
Would someone Please call the Intervention TV show people
and get me To the Betty Ford Clinic... _________________

That car is looking beautiful! I can't wait to see it in person sometime.
I agree with you Rich, the door lettering is great.

Alphius...thanks so much for the compliments, I truly appreciate it
I really wanted to see what the paint would clean up like, and it came out pretty decent for it's age!
It still has some door dings and such, but nothing major or ugly.
Yea i was really digging the door TAT, i am not sure of the technical name and air cleaner graphics i am thrilled with...
Now i am heading into the interior...Holy shizzle! _________________

One more shot this is when the silver leaf had just been applied, a very cool and old school process _________________
