ok so i am going to race in Car Club Challenge this weekend and i normally race in drive and thats been workin pretty good, but the other day i was racin my friends ford focus on a really long straight road, and i put the car in 2nd instead of drive and it seemed like i got up to speed a lot quicker then i eventually shifted to drive (3rd). so is it better to race in 2nd and shift to 3rd when i need to or just stay in drive?

If the transmission shifts at the optimal point by itself then just leave it in drive. My tranny doesn't, therefore I manually shift my 700r4/LB9 at about 5100 RPM. It's not exactly "good" for the transmission to do that without manual valvebodies though. If you're doing bracket racing then you need to be as consistent as possible So I'd leave it in "D" even if it shifts at 3K rpm and runs a slower ET.

yeah thats true it would be harder to shift it manually at the same time everytime and consistancy would be hard to maintain. i just gonna leave it in drive.
