[rant]
as in Dyno Curse.
I guess I'm finally due since I haven't dynoed (or tried) in 3 years.
Having trouble getting my carb running right. (see "double pumper troubles')
Battery wasn't holding a charge.....Replaced that yesterday.
now I think I fried my starter.....got a new Hi-torque one on the way...
This is getting expensive........it doesn't help that this is the second week I'm working half of what I was before...
Having my tax returns would be super right about now....
[/rant]
how's everyone else holding up now that were nearly a week until the day? _________________

Mine won't be done. I work six days a week for the next month and have school 4 evenings a week until 930. Plus papers, and math and....yeah...
Doesn't look like the bird will be making an appearance. _________________

I have my typical early-year mis-fire going. I guess every Jan I need to do plugs.
I may get it done tomorrow, I may be doing them friday at Paul's. Today I got new header gaskets on, and switched my valve covers around so the engine at least LOOKs good. |

Kind of had the dyno curse today, I pulled out to pass somebody on a country road today and my car started missing really really badly.
I've noticed the last few days an intermittent high idle also. Today was the worst, with the bucking and missing under throttle though.
I got home and popped my hood...
Hmmm... what is that bubbling noise? OH! The gas in my carburetor... boiling... hmmm... pretty sure that's not good!
Turns out it was a combination of things. Slightly retarded timing, cooling fan set to come on too high (due to cooler winter weather), and slightly low water in the radiator. Guess I've been neglecting this daily driver for just a bit too long. Time to tune it up! That's what I'm doing right now.
Getting excited and ready for dyno! _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Are you home all day friday, Paul?
It is supposed to be sunny, I may swing by and wash mine over there, and drink beer with you.

I should be home 99% of the day. Chris MIGHT come over and run some tuning before he heads off to work. And Mike might show up for a little wiring instruction. I'm going to get all my house prep done tomorrow night. Friday I am making my ATM/Beer run.
And sorry I don't have any old spark plugs for you this time LOL. Mine only had about 500 miles on em and looked killer. ) _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

I have a theory about this dyno curse. It's not a curse at all. You guys just drive complete piles of ****, and when you stomp on it hard to show off.... well.... your pile of **** breaks.
The dyno event isn't a contest of power. It's a contest to see who can get home without breaking. I think we should award special T-shirts to people that can make it in and out without trouble. |

I'm just taking my time to make sure everything works right.
Actually I was quite pleased this last summer when I hooked up a battery and nothing caught on fire. Quite an accomplishment when you consider how much wiring I hacked up in the engine bay, and the fact that I didn't know crap about wiring when I did it 8 years ago. Although there is always the possibility that the turn signal might operate the windows now. |

LMAO!
It's like you had stuff installed at Best Buy. Mom had her car deck installed there.... the radio would come on when you turned the headlights on.... key off. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Excuses, excuses. I'm not really political, but your blind hopefulness is beginning to sound like our economic bailout plan.
when you get the car running under its own power jon, then things might be more foward moving.

Ah, young Jedi you have much to learn. Observe the subtle genius at work: I am a married man and my wife has let me buy the following all because the car doesn't run.
1. A diesel Ford Superduty so I can tow.
2. 18 foot dovetail trailer.
3. All kinds of wood working equipment for a change of hobby.
4. A house with a bigger garage.
5. Leather seating. (Thanks smelly mice.)
6. A nice shed for the backyard because the garage is too full.
Now go ahead and see how far that flies when your car runs! |
