Phew!

trip was dangerous. In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have done it, but I'm here, oh well!

I did it in the 2001 camaro. lost traction a couple times going over the syskyou pass. hit some pretty big snow drifts, but no evident damage to the car. Lucky me.
The Shasta passes weren't much better. With Studded tires, I lost traction twice, but recovered it. The truckers in the left lane weren't too thrilled though! I got the usual blaring.

Spent last night in Red Bluff, CA.

Central Valley was pretty calm. Never Saw snow after that. Made it through the San Gabriel's without incident, and made it into the san fernado Valley earlier tonight. Adam and I had a few drinks after dinner, and now i post my safety drunk. I'll be here until Saturday.

LA Grocery stores are open until 2AM. And they have Booze!

I heart Los Angeles.

chris,

get on I5 and get off at "los feliz blvd"drive west on it a few blocks until you get to "hillhurst" and turn left. a few blocks down accross the street from the albertsons is a "hillhurst liquer". in the parking lot is a phothut sized place called "yuka's tacos" . best tacos ever. eat them.

Heading out now.

What I could glean from the weather service is no report of closure, and no snowfall anywhere up 101 from here to Salinas.

woot!

Wish me luck!

Made it back about an hour ago.

What a drive.....

Took 101 from Encino, up through Oxnard and San Louis Obispo. Some sweet roads to drive. Lots of twisties.

Spent last night in Salinas.

continued north and cut over on the I-580 in the Bay Area to I-5. Shasta passes weren't as bad this time, and the Siskyou's outside Ashland were a little worse, but nothing like the trip down.

The CHP got me though.

73 in a 65. No ticket though...Real nice officer. My luck was uncanny on this trip.

US101 is quite a fun road down that way. When I still belonged to Uncle Sam, I made a trip down there with a 1980 Capri with an inline 6 and 4-speed manual. I forget exactly where, but there was one particular uphill hairpin where I had to downshift to first to keep going. That Mustang wannabe did pretty good in those twisties.
