| If its a quadrajet it will work. It won't be exactly right but it should work pretty decent. If its a holley or afb style carb, then you may need to rejet it. And more to what rod's thinking, you may have things to change to make them fit if changing from one to the other. All 3 fit differently. |

forgot to put that on there, it's a rochester, no clue what cfm it is.. i just know it's a working carb and right now the el camino has the stock 2 barrel on it.. but it's got a new 4 barrel intake..
so there's a possibility that it's not just going to be a simple swap?.. |

A quadrajet will come closest to the right tune, it also won't matter what size it is, since they are variable on the secondaries. Going from 2 to 4 barrel you'll probably need the proper throttle brackets, and maybe even a different throttle cable. You'll also have to change your fuel lines, vacuum lines etc. I consider it a simple swap, just not a direct bolt on.
It will be on the rich side, but since you're a 400 thats closer then bolting it on a 350 or worse a 305.
If its the proper 454 carb it should be a 750cfm. Certain olds and caddillacs got 850cfm quads. But not the chevies. |
