Finished the torque arm and crossmember today. Also welded in some reloation brackets. Rebuilt the crossmember to adapt to the new arm. Will add a safety loop after I get a driveline in there. Don't know what DIA I'll end up with yet, and the one I have isn't a good piece to measure around LOL. A little warped. The whole mess weighs in at only 22lbs. My old crossmember weighed 7lbs as it was!

Special shout out to Alloy for helping with some measurements!

Tomorrow I'll bolt everything back in when the paint dries and hang the sway bar.

Here are some pictures.

Sickness. Do you think that the torque arm mount will flex the crossmember being that far away from the bolts? Thats what I'm worried about on mine. I like your torque arm though, looks really beefy!

Pretty much did the copy design but changed a few things. Like the lower mount on the shackel is bushed instead of solid. Also got rid of the two vertical bolts and made it bolt into straight to the housing. One of the benefits of building yourself. If it was all store bought you'd have the plate that bolted to the housing. Then the two vertical torque arm bolts mounting the TA bracket. Then the 2 bolts for the rod ends! Cluster F--- I say! KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid

Here is a pick of Schultzy's. You can see it's not all that far back.

Plus With it back as far, you can see in one of my pictures, the huge gusset on the pass side. The angle is 3/16". Last time I had 1/8 and it flexed BIG time. SO I welded another piece of 1/4 inside it but it was about 1/2 the dimmensions. It didn't flex then, and I didn't have a gusset. Just a down piece the size of the cross piece.

Plus... if you look at the spohn piece for a T56, it's actually less beefy and in the same locale.

I don't have any reservations with this. Even with the stickies and my power.

Looks good Paul! The bushing for the lower pivot mount is a great idea! THat should make it opperate better, and be much quiter than the spohn design.

Thanks!

I went one step farther and treated it like a shackle. I used a shoulder bolt. All I have to do is tighten it down and it stops like there was the metal spacer inside, except it's built into the bolt... so I get a thicker bolt. Not even bothering with a Zerk. A little Energy lube and go.

Looks like Strange is the way to go on a driveline. $239 for a 3" chrome-moly shaft w/ 1350 U-joints + the cost of slip yolk (Strange 1350 Yolk $65).

Way cheaper than most places I've seen like Spohn and Denny's which are just standard steel shafts.

Woot! Now..... fund rasier! Errr... Who needs something welded? Laughing
