I put the engine together for my IROC in the late 1990's. I cheaped out and put Trick flow heads on it, with 1.25 valve springs. The springs are shot due to a bad tranny rebuild that would down shift to far and put the engine at 7,000 RPM.
I should have bought AFR heads but scrimped. I am now in a position to buy a new set of AFR's for Xmas for ride and am wondering if any one has experience with AFR heads. They would be installed on a ZZ4 short block, 1'3/4 headres, T-Ram intake, dual pattern Comp cam - .488 intake, 509 exhaust etc, 114 LSA. Are they worth the dough and how much HP are worth over the old style TF twisted wedge heads? ? |

I'm running the AFR 190's, L-98 Angle plug milled to 62cc. Late 80's technology. The new heads flow substantially better and I think there's a few ponies to be had if I swapped mine. Just haven't convinced myself that spending another 2K plus is worth it. AFR's are a great set of heads, you can't go wrong, plus you can sell your's to offset the cost. _________________ 1990 IROC-Z, 383 HSR, 3.70 9-Bolt
