There are about 4 to light the gauges. The rest are for the SES, brake, seat belt, blinkers, high beam and each has its own compartment to keep its light contained. The four to light the gauges shine into the end of a plastic piece like fiber optic to spread the light through the gauges.

If your gauges don't light up, check your light switch, its dimmer function may be out or just turned all the way down. There's also a fuse for them in the fuse panel, labeled INST LTS or something similar.

'birds come with little orange condoms on all the dash lights to illuminate everything orange-y. I like it. After market gauges sets come with condoms like that in red and green. I'd try those covers before colored bulbs. They're last longer.

Sounds to me like 2 or 3 in the instrument panel are out, there is one in the HVAC controls on the far right. IIRC there is no light for gear selection on Camaros, but I could be wrong.
