Alright, so i decided that i was just going to fix up my el camino and keep it for at least this winter..

i tore apart the motor yesterday and took the heads in to get redone today.. i was looking at the numbers and the heads could of came from a 307 327 or a 350 i was told.. and i ran the block numbers just now and it say's it was a 400 (3951511) is there any way to tell what car it came out of? or is it just going to be aprox years like what i already have (70-7Cool

i've got a few other numbers off of the engine but i don't have them handy, any help would be great guy's thanks in advance

At the back of the block on the right (passenger side) behind the head is an 8 digit number.

Here's what my 4 bolt block comes up as:

14093638...350...87-95...2 or 4...Roller or flat tappet cam, one-piece rear seal

For some reason I couldn't click on block casting numbers link from the main page, but I went to the Ebay page and then the block casting number link worked for me.
