I really don't think this is cool nor do I think its very responsible. I forgot to file the report of sale on a vehicle ONCE. I got a call from the tow company on Christmas Eve saying I owe $800 for leaving my truck at K-Mart. If you don't change the title on a car you bought that you are scrapping then fine, don't change it. But for the sake of the person you bought it from and for being A DECENT PERSON change the goddamn title. If you got in a wreck and killed someone, you could run off and the legal owner will be FULLY RESPONSIBLE. So man up and change it.

It is two parts... the seller has 10 days to file a sale report with the DMV here. So while it is not responsable to not change the title over. The prior owner should have also told DMV that he sold the car, and anything that happens with the car after that point, he has paperwork showing he told DMV it was not his.

But, I do agree Blue. Change the title over, it isn't hard, and doesn't cost much. Besides I would rather have the title in MY name, incase the old owner descides to file a stolen report, or some crazy thing like that.
