the answer is zero. ruined my record. 02-16-2000 (date of ODL issue) to 08-04-2008. i did not cause an accident that entire time... had quite a run.
well, today in heavy stop-go LA traffic, heading north on the 5 freeway I was behind a Mercedes 500CL (SUV) and it stopped, I didn't. not much more to say then that relay.. I screwed up. accident occurred between 10-20 miles per hour, no physical injuries. the way the hit happened my car went under the benz, as the bumper was pushed down it gave way, allowing the hood to have quite a gap before it hit, causing it to buckle as you can see. made the damage look alot worse from inside the driver seat... thought i was going to find my fenders pushed back to the tires. the passenger fender was pushed back a bit, won't let the passenger door open, i think it just moved on it's mounts, i am thinking, hoping, praying the frame is ok.
the Mercedes looks to need a new bumper cover.
my car, as far as i can tell needs:
hood, right front fender, entire right headlight assembly including motor, left headlight door, bumper cover, latch plate, latch plate triangle support, hood latch, and both front turn signal lenses. the radiator core support was also pushed back a ways, but the radiator is undamaged.
i had to leave the hood on the side of the road as it was so badly damaged. the real pisser is i JUST put the nose back on after repainting the entire thing. it looked so damn good, i had not even taken "after" pictures yet.
well, new record starts today... accident free for _1_ days..

| That sucks dude. Hopefully no frame damage, and a new hood, and realign the fender, and you will be driving around again. |

Ouchers dude. Don't worry. That pig Mercedes couldn't damage the steel structure known as F-BODY! Make sure you check around though just to be safe. If I can push a barrier back with my camaro, you can dive under the skirt of a Mercedes. _________________ E30

Ouch. I know L.A. traffic all too well from the 3 years I was stationed in the area. Seattle on the other hand isn't much better. Hopefully you don't find any frame damage and you'll be going again in no time. _________________ 92 Camaro

full neck movement. think I'm fine.
yeah, i hope no frame damage too. i don't know how i would find it though.. it's not gonna be bad enough to see. i did have a scare. as i leave work i hear a BIG air leak on the passenger side... like the whole car is tweaked. i am thinking "well, cars is F'd now" then as i hit 70 it gets a little worse, so i reach over and latch the passenger t-top |

Bummer dude. At least you weren't completely stranded and no one was hurt. Still sucks for sure.

i was eating a burger today, and i overheard one of the employees say something funny, he looks out the window and says "wow, firebird with no hood.. thats keeping it bomb-ass real"
made some progress on the car. got the bumper cover off and found that the honeycomb bumper support quick connects had broken, replaced them and the bumper core is good as new. the cover may be recoverable, i need to remove the metal support from it and see if it retakes it's original shape. i used some yellow tape to make myself some turn signals, and got two new bulbs so i am legal during the day. still rolling with only one headlight, but upon examining the trash can full of stuff i picked up off the ground at the scene i found that my passanger side headlight motor and cover are reusable. i still need all the pop up braketry and a new bulb. the junkyards here are a total wash, i will need to make a run when i'm up in two weeks for sure.
current mood: optimistic. |

I have no idea what they're worth at a yard. $50? It's a functional T/A hood with most of the bracketry and junk intact. I'll toss in a headlight if you want it. |

cool. the last one in a yard cost me $23. i thought that was unreasonably low. 50 is completely reasonable.
do you mean the headlight bulb, or the other stuff? |
