well, i'm pretty certain the a/c compressor is shot on my 89 trans am. here's what i need help with:
do i replace it back to stock (r12) or upgrade to the more modern (r134) system? i would like to get a chrome compressor, but have not found one for the stock replacement. i can find them in the r134, but they're not direct replacements and will probably need some bracket modification or some sort.
any opinions/ideas?
i'd like to go new becuase r12 is spendy and not every shop deals with it (at least over here) plus i'd like a shiny chrome piece to make it look good. any one where to get a chrome direct replacement? that would make things a lot easier. _________________ we all gotta start somewhere.... |

When my compressor went out, I did the conversion to R-134a with the new compressor. Overall, it was less expensive than keeping the R-12 system, though there are a few more pieces to buy. I don't remember them all, but you'll need a new orifice tube and new o-rings, maybe a low pressure switch (I didn't get one). _________________ 92 Camaro
