So instead of working on my cars, I've been working on this instead. This has been my boat for the last 3 seasons and its worked great so far. But last season there was a soft spot to the left of the engine as you looked at it. i figured I'd just rip it up and replace just that part. Well. That was a mistake.

then to this

Since then its down to this:

Check out my putfile folder if you want to see more details of the inbetweens. I'm all the way down to bare hull now and about to start grinding the glass down so I can put the stringers back in. What a mess this has been. http://www.putfile.com/album/189462?pos=top

I'm so close I can almost feel the water! I got both frames in and the motor bolted down. Pretty much worked on it all day sunday and monday. I used about a gallon of Fiberlay Resin (highly recommend this stuff) and about 50 feet of heavy dual layer uni-cloth thats a foot wide. I hope to start cutting the floor this week and have it glassed in by the weekend!

I would love to have a new boat. This project is going to run me about 500 all said and done so I can't complain. $250 for all the glass and wood but the vinyl has yet to come. I got new seat foam for free (foam is really spendy). I'm going to have a kickass boat with all fresh interior/floor so I'll never have to worry about it again. Not in my lifetime at least. I could have bought another old boat but you never know how it looks inside until you open it up.

I think i might trade it in after this season cause I can do so with it in good condition. Before there was no way someone would buy it before... We'll see. We looked at a new bayliner olympic for $22k with a Chevy 5.0L, rack, painted trailer, and sweet interior.

Looking good! When is the estimated completion date? I did that a couple years ago on my parents old boat. Stripped out the entire interior, laid a new floor down, re-carpeted, etc. Then two years later they sold it. Laughing Bah.

It was an '88 Galaxie with less than a hundred hours on it too! But they replaced it with an '04 Malibu with an FI 350. Much more fun. Ballast tanks, rack, big ass stereo (that I had to install but whatever), and one of those flip down wedge things in the back to increase wake size.

I'm going to have it done by mid June. The floor should be on this weekend so all thats left to do is the interior. The motor runs great and the outdrive sounds good. Its a ford 302 that needs a tuneup but it runs great other than bogging down when it idles too long. I blame that on my carb rebuild/tuning though. Its a really fun boat, very stable in the water. It got really fun after I had the wakeboard cage built. Pulls you out of the water really well.

'88? Mine is a '74! Lol.

I'm going to copy this layout to make mine. This boat and mine are about the same length from the wind shield to transom (24 versus 19).

just an update. Hope to have it out this weekend! I used camaro hood hinges on the sun pad. They work great! I have both benches in the garage now. One is 5' long the other is 8' long.

There it all is!

All the furniture tops open up. I have way more room than the old setup. Its basic, super white, clean, cooshy, and functional. I like it.

Laughing This sunday we will be on the lake. Its running good! Might make some more pockets for extra little stuff like keys and stuff. Also need some carpet. I think i might use trunk liner for now. Cheap and charcoal gray.

I don't know if a chevy steering wheel will fit. That would be baddass! When i took the steering wheel off it looked like it might work. The shaft is keyed though with a big 3/4" nut holding it down.

if I can put a boat steering wheel on my camaro, you can put a camaro on that boat.

I still like the 82z28 wheels. But I cant find a nice one, plus I like the wood.

i guess it all depends on what type of steering wheel it is. I have a cavalier GT steering wheel, but its blue. Thats the only one I have. That would look way cooler than the stocker on the boat.

WOOT WOOT WOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got it on the lack today after a day of workingon the new fence. Fricken ran great! I must have had a super dead battery and a clogged up carb. It started great, restarted great, planed awesome, and was overall great! We're going to go out on thursday right after work and I'll get some shots of it in the water then! I hope to have the floor carpet in too.

Here's the latest. Got it in the water fine yesterday but I had an altercation with the trim motor. The trim motor fell out of its housing at the shore which dropped the outdrive. So when I started it the drive was down in the dirt. It must have then sucked up all sorts of stuff cause the raw water inlet would be in the dirt. Long story short, the engine overheated cause I probably destroyed the raw water pump blades. Oh well. It was a good evening on the lake, we just layed around and absorbed in some sun.
