so i have never waxed my car and i want to soon, it got painted in December.

what products do you recommend to use? and how should i go about putting it on?

and there is some overspray on some parts, so should i use rubbing compound, then claybar, and last wax?

I can't really speak to the overspray stuff.

For wax I like Meguires NXT Tech Wax. Its super easy, just apply with the applicator pad, let it try, the wipe off with a micro-fiber towel. I would assume since it has been driving around unwaxed since it got painted, that clay baring it would be a good idea to get all the fine particles out of the paint before waxing, but again, I will let one of the painter types answer that.

I use a newer system called the farcle' system that doesn't use wax. Its a 2 stage polish that only uses one kind of compound and 2 different pads. It works very well but is extremely messy and expensive to get both pads and the compound.

Meguires makes some good products, i'd go with one from their line. Sorry i couldn't be of more help.
